The main store is located at 1920 W. 4th and the Dollar Store is one block south at 5th and Crabtree! Imagine this…an older gentleman is in need of a winter coat. (It gets cold when you have to walk to the local grocery store and use the city bus system to take care of personal errands and doctor visits.) He walks into a Thrift Store that is located within two blocks of his apartment. It’s there
that he encounters a 26 year old store clerk, who warmly smiles as he enters the store. The old man feels the warmth of both her words and the store itself. She helps the gentleman find a warm winter coat, and he gladly gives her $4. Oh, the dignity of exchange! He leaves the store knowing he got a bargain! He walks out of the store encouraged, for he is now protected from the elements. At the end of the day, the young clerk, a single mom, collects her paycheck from the Thrift Store and walks west to pick up her 2 year old son at the H.L. She pays for the daycare services with her earnings, which in turn, helps support other families in the local community. She hugs her beautiful son and is thankful that she can walk from home to work, and to her child’s daycare. She is thankful that the sometimes unreliable public transportation does not hinder her working career. She is thankful for the support & encouragement she receives from her employer. It’s more than just a job to her. She is growing as a person and learning from caring people. Meanwhile, the non-profit Thrift Store generates revenue and the money is reinvested into the local community. People are helped. People are invested in. One at a time, the community grows in hope and purpose. Can you imagine this? This is New Life Thrift
We envision New Life Thrift to be a store that offers high quality basic necessities to the community at a low cost. All of our inventory, which will include clothing, housewares, small appliances, and furniture, will be donated by the gracious public and local churches, allowing us to keep prices low. ALL money raised by the store goes back into OUR immediate community, namely those in the NW corridor of Owensboro, where we've got a great need. A Message from New Life Thrift's Founder:
My name is Todd Camp & I serve as Pastor of New Life Church on Crabtree Avenue in Owensboro, KY. My heart belongs to the west-end residents of Owensboro. My life purpose & mission is to help those in poverty, whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual in nature! Over the past several years we have fed and clothed thousands of people. We are a conduit for grace, hope, and purpose. We have helped many with their faith journey. We believe that we are to be salt, light, and leaven to our community. We are moving in a new direction with New Life Thrift and we need your help. Please consider helping our cause however you can, whether it be "LIKE"ing our page, SHARING this with friends, donating some items to stock our store! Prayers are always welcomed!
