Sydney & Bradley 4.11.26
In the winter I turned Sydney’s mother’s@wedding gown into a beautiful “getting ready robe” and in the spring I altered her own gown, perfecting the fit!

From August 1989 to April 2026, the robe was designed to keep@as many details of her mother’s gown as possible, from the lace on the sleeves to the bow on the back! The robe featured a narrow shawl collar and the lace trim at the hem. The most fun feature is that the back of the robe was actually the front of the original gown’s skirt!

Sydney’s wedding gown was the “Skylar” by Maggie Sottero and was purchased at Becker’s Bridal.
I took in the sides of the bodice, created and added a waist stay, shortened the 6 layers of skirting and created a 3-point over bustle.

I’m always honored to be trusted with bridal alterations, but am especially flattered when I get the opportunity to redesign a mother’s gown for the next generation!
Thank you for trusting me Sydney! Wishing you and Bradley many years of happiness!!! 🥂

Aranda wanted to surprise her mom by redesigning her wedding gown and wearing it at her bridal shower. Mission accomplished! I removed the off the shoulders sleeves and created new straps. I removed the peplum from the back, shortened the skirt, added a lining layer, and reapplied the original decorative trim to the hemline. Aranda chose a tea length for this new version and it’s absolutely perfect! Thank you for trusting me with this very special project, Aranda!

22 years of sewing for my daughter in 90 seconds! 😆
She graduated from Oakland University this weekend with her Bachelor of Science in Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences with a specialization in Radiologic Technology and a minor in Communications and Deaf Studies. 😮‍💨
She’s my VP of Design and I am so proud of her! She says I’m “sappy” 🤷🏻‍♀️ but too bad, I’m a proud mom!

It’s time for me to share my treasures as my buns and shelves are overflowing with beautiful fabrics… but I don’t know the best way to share them quickly and easily. I’ve considered posting them individually on my personal instagram page or selling them in a FB Destashing group. I’ve even been investigating the WhatNot app and live auctions, but I don’t have a ton of time to invest. Thoughts? Interest? Advice?

Grace & Luke 2.28.26
This lovely crepe gown from didn’t need anything drastic, just some fine tuning! The sleeves were too long and too full, so I took up the shoulders, narrowed them slightly, and shortened them by a couple inches relocating the cuffs, buttons, and loops. The sweetheart neckline was rolling out a little, so a running stitch done by hand curled the edge inward. I took in the sides of the waist a little, shortened the skirt and lining, and created a 3-point under bustle. Additionally, I also hemmed the mother of the bride’s gown, too!
Wishing the new Mr & Mrs Ren all the best! 🥂

This gown is so romantic! Floral lace, tulle, and satin trimmed boning on the bodice… Ryan found it at Norah’s Bridal in Oxford MI and nicknamed her “Lillian”! 😍
Ryan loved the look of the lace bodice but wanted a little more coverage, so I lined the bodice with fabric that matched her skin, so it still looked sheer, but it actually wasn’t! I took in the upper side seam to pull the bodice close and also created and added a waist stay so the gown would stay put on her frame throughout the day. The 5 layers of skirting needed to be shortened and I created a 5 point overbustle, too. Lastly, I transferred Ryan’s mother’s veil from a headpiece to a comb so she could wear it. January is Michigan is pretty cold, but it appears that the new Mr. & Mrs. Mathews were warmed by their love on their snowy wedding day! Congratulations!!! 🥂

Christina & Tobey 3.6.26
I’ve had the pleasure of altering a few gowns for Christina, but her wedding gown was a showstopper! “Marilyn” by Eddy K is a mikado fit and glare with a detachable train and long lace sleeves, and she found it at Norah’s Bridal in Oxford.
The sleeves are widely set and the lace just kept wanting to slide off her shoulders, so I used some special silicone backed elastic hand sewn ti the inside to keep them gripping her shoulders. I let out the waist a little since we both agreed that “breathing is important” but pinched in the very top of the side seams (in the armpit area) to pull the neckline in a pinch. I hemmed the skirt layers, added a single over bustle point to the train, and added thread loops at the back waist for the detachable train to hold onto. We had such great chats during her fittings, I really enjoyed assisting with Christina’s wedding gown!
Congrats to the new Mr & Mrs! 🥂

The 90s… I was in high school and the only person I knew that sewed. I made a wedding gown at 17 and my own prom dress a year later.
