IX. GEMINI
I am no more beholden
To the flame-kindled sunrise
As I am
(you too)
Indebted to the balm of the calming moon’s first glance
As each in turn creeps beyond the filaments of an oceanic present and past
And I am no more beloved
(or despised)
For all my unearthly penchants
(as you are for yours)
Which lure us into both trench and abyss
Immersed – gladly – in the myriad, inverted constellations
Heaven’s mirror, reversed
Imagine that, to emulate the pale blossoms of the fields
Or the peaked urchins upon their reefs
By way of the flickering outbursts as would St Elmo himself decree
Oddly similar to that which the very Promethean did bless. . .
How the self-same others also long to craft
The very thunderbolts which the vain gods so selfishly claim
But we
As the tidally born, embody both the push and the pull
What calls to one, calls to the other
With the same watery breath meant to mesmerize and enchant
Draw you, me, down with the next icy swell
To hold us, enrapt, for Time immemorable
Lured equally by the very flames which beckon to both
Fighters and dreamers
I am, we are
Destined for the seeking, the ever dreaming, the ever battling of currents teeming
In search of that one, hallowed glimmer
Which will bestow onto me, to us
Everything
