Making junk journals for customers is a lot of fun, but to some extent just gathering all the ingredients for a junk journal for customers is almost more fun. It gives them the chance to create and I love sharing that. Years ago I had so much fun creating the *Frost O Fold* junk journals for the 25 days of Advent, with prompts to do something kind every day during the 25 days before Christmas. 2 years ago I created two advent junk journal kits using the cutest little shelf with dividers and a drawer. When I found these vintage letters storage boxes I knew they would be perfect for an Advent Calendar assemblage of junk journal items. Each of the 25, plus bonus items, will be wrapped in vintage wrapping paper, tied with striped yarn, and numbered with a tag. The first photographs show a “general” grouping of items for a junk journal, the next group of photos shows a nature themed grouping of items for a junk journal. I needed to be off my feet today - so this was a perfect project. I purchased these cardboard, cut outs to make Putz Houses years ago. When they first arrived, I had no patience for them. The perfect project for today. I got them from ITEMSBOX on Etsy - 3 kits - the small houses came in a set of 24, the larger set came in a set of 12, and the last set is a village and came with 10 pieces. The larger houses will wait to be decorated, but all of the smaller ones will get holes punched in the top for a hanging string, and then they will get a bottom put on them, if I decide to add trees, a fence or something to the house. Of course the houses will get painted and glittered and decorated. All of the smaller ones will be donated to my local Compassionate Friends chapter. If you followed me for a while, you know that I make somewhere around 30 ornaments every year to donate to this chapter. The ornament always needs to have a place for parents to be able to write their child’s name and perhaps a message to them. These are a little more elaborate than what I would normally make. The wife, Beverly, of the lovely couple Beverly and Bernie, that have run our meetings for years now, died suddenly early January of this year. She loved decorating for Christmas and especially loved her Christmas Village. So it seemed to me that houses were the perfect ornament for this year to honor her passing. This will be my 30th year of making ornaments for this group.

All the tiny quilt scraps have been made into even tinier pumpkins! Whimsical, entirely hand stitched, these cuties are ready to go off to new homes. Happy Birthday to this guy. My big brother, Matt. A lifelong tease and jokester, shy, didn’t care for school, was a chef for most of his life, took care of our mom in her final years. I’m lucky - because we were able to keep our mom’s house, and that’s where he lives. When I go up to York to work on St. Mary’s Bazaar stuff, I stay there. What a privilege it is to be able to spend time with him - time that grown siblings usually don’t get with each other. We may be closer than many siblings - because we are both adopted - and we don’t take that word ‘family’ for granted.

Camille Camille Dumas-davis sent me more creative fodder! Love the purple ghosts - they remind me of Gus the Friendly Ghost, a beautiful quilt square, some small squares - that I had previously made into travel pockets for hankies, and scrappy bits - that I have starting making into tiny pumpkins…
