Hi everyone! Charli here,

I'm getting everything ready for our 2nd Annual Fall BUNCO Bash on November 14th, and I'm reaching out in hopes of finding a few more local businesses and community members willing to help us out.

This is NYESPACE's only fundraising event of the year, and we're collecting handmade items from local crafters, gift cards, products, services, and other goodies for our event prizes and Pick-A-Prize baskets. Even a $10 or $20 gift card would be wonderful!

One of my favorite things about last year's event was getting to share who donated what, introduce people to businesses they may not have visited before, and celebrate the people who make up our community. As a makerspace, supporting local creators and businesses is something I care deeply about, and I want to keep as much of this event local as possible.

For the past two years, we've made NYESPACE work with mismatched tables, chairs, and whatever odds and ends we could find. This year's fundraiser will help us finally improve our seating and workspaces so we can make the makerspace more comfortable, functional, and accessible for everyone who uses it.

And because I believe community support should go both ways, we're also donating half of our 50/50 raffle proceeds to the Pahrump Senior Center this year!

I know businesses get asked for donations constantly, and I completely understand that not everyone has the resources to contribute. There's absolutely no pressure or expectation. I'm just hoping to find a few more folks who might want to be part of what we're building.

Calling all local makers, crafters, and creatives!

One of our favorite parts of last year's Fall BUNCO Bash was getting to showcase the incredible talent right here in Pahrump, and we'd love to do it again!

We're looking for local creators willing to donate a little something for our event prizes and Pick-A-Prize baskets. Handmade, homemade, or uniquely yours- we'd love to highlight the people behind the creations!

Every contribution, big or small, helps us celebrate local creativity while supporting NYESPACE.

🍂 A Little NYESPACE Update

We have a few more events coming up this fall, and then NYESPACE will be taking a little break.

When I started NYESPACE, I really just wanted to create the kind of place I wished existed here- a space where people could learn something new, make things, use tools they might not otherwise have access to, meet people, and feel like they belonged. I believed then (and still believe now) that living in a rural community shouldn't mean having fewer opportunities to create, learn, connect, or try something just because it sounds fun.

Over the years, this little space has become so much more than I initially imagined. We've done art, technology, gardening, sewing, Cricut, 3D printing, community projects, dementia programming, kids' activities, workshops, open labs, and plenty of experiments that made me think, “Well, let's see if anybody shows up.” 😂

But my life also looks different now than it did when I started NYESPACE.

My capacity has changed, some of our funding and programming opportunities have changed, and I've realized that I need to give myself permission to stop constantly asking “What can we do next?” long enough to ask “What actually makes sense next?”

So, after our remaining fall events, NYESPACE will be taking a programming hiatus through the end of the year.

We still have some fun left before then:

✨ How to Garden in Pahrump: Fall Edition- Saturday, September 12th, from 10:30 to 12:30 pm
✨ Makers Meet: Beading - Saturday, September 19th from 11:00 to 2:00 pm
✨ Saturday, October 3rd from 9:00 to 3:00 pm, Crafts in Cars Craft Show
✨ Saturday, October 24th from 12:00 to 4:00 pm, Haunted Terrarium Halloween Event
& last but not least, our
🎲 Fall Bunco Bash (our annual fundraiser!) –Saturday, November 14th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Then I'm going to give the space (and myself) a little breathing room.

In January, I'll sit down and take an honest look at what the next chapter of NYESPACE should be. Maybe that means bringing back some of the things people have loved. Maybe it means fewer, more intentional programs. Maybe it means finding other people who want to help carry pieces of it. And maybe it looks completely different than it has before. I don't know yet, and I'm trying to be okay with not knowing.

If NYESPACE has meant something to you, this is actually a really good time to tell me.

Tell me what you've loved. Tell me what you wish we'd offered. Tell me what you'd actually show up for again. Come to one of our remaining events. Share them with someone who might enjoy them. And if you've ever thought, “I'd love to teach something/help with this/be more involved,” I'd genuinely love to hear that too.

One thing I've learned from running a volunteer community space is that what people say they want and what they actually have the time and interest to participate in aren't always the same thing- and that's okay. But that information matters when deciding what is sustainable.

This isn't a closure announcement. It's just a pause.

I love what we've built here. I'm proud of the weird, creative little community that has existed in Room 20, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated supplies, taught something, volunteered, attended an event, brought their kids, made a mess, cleaned up a mess, or simply told somebody else that NYESPACE exists.

For now, come hang out with us this fall. Then we'll take a little rest and see what 2027 wants to be. ❤️

Hi fellow makers- We’re excited to be joining the Crafts in Cars Street Fair this October!

This will be NYESPACE’s one and only craft show this year, and we’re already working on some fun things to bring with us! We hope you’ll come out, visit our booth, check out the other local makers and artists, grab some food, and enjoy a day in the community. ❤️

We also want to help spread the word that they’re still looking for vendors! Vendor applications are due August 15th, so if you’ve been thinking about setting up a booth, come join us!

We have one more event in two weeks and then we are closed until September- here is a photo dump of the last few months before we take that break! ☀️ One thing this shows is I’m bad at taking photos during events, but the best part is I’m spending time with you guys and I don’t think of capturing those moments more than I enjoy experiencing them! 😏 Happy Summer Pahrump!

We’re doing a little inventory at NYESPACE and have a few supplies we’re running low on. Before we go out and buy new, we wanted to check with our amazing community first. We love giving craft supplies a second life whenever we can! ♻️💙

If you have any of the following collecting dust, we’d be thrilled to put them to good use:

🖌️ Watercolor or mixed media paper
🪡 Beads (any size or style)
📦 Small storage bins, totes, or organizers

Today was Session #5 of Cohort 2- just one more session together before our art show next Saturday! 😭 We love the time we spend with our artists, and are truly sad to end our time together (for now 👀)- AND still so excited to have this art show to share their work with you. Happy Saturday, all! ☀️
