🐴❤️ June Horse of the Month: Shakira ❤️🐴
Some horses leave hoofprints on our hearts that never fade, and Shakira was one of those horses.
Shakira, a 2011 chestnut Thoroughbred mare, came into her owner's life as a three-year-old and quickly became so much more than just a horse. She was a partner, a teacher, an adventure buddy, and a best friend. Together they spent years making memories that will be cherished forever.
Shakira was fearless. She loved to jump and tackled every fence with confidence and enthusiasm. One of her happiest places was the water at the Barrington cross-country course. There was nothing she enjoyed more than splashing through the water and taking on every challenge with her ears forward and her heart all in.
Losing Shakira in 2025 left an emptiness that can never truly be filled. Anyone who has loved a horse knows that they are never "just a horse." They become part of your story, part of your family, and a piece of your heart that stays with you forever.
While Shakira may no longer be physically here, her legacy lives on. Today, her owner rides Shakira's sister, continuing the tradition and carrying forward everything Shakira taught her. In so many ways, Shakira is still there; in the memories, in the lessons, in the love they shared, and in every ride taken in her honor.
The greatest gift our horses give us is that even after they are gone, they never really leave us. They live on in our hearts, in our stories, and in the horses that follow in their footsteps.
Congratulations to our June Horse of the Month, Shakira. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. ❤️
