BIG NEWS!
This is long, but I promise there is a payoff at the end if you stick with me :)
So you may or may not know that my daughter, Emily, and I (Jennifer) bought Broken Boutique back in December. It was the perfect situation.... a mother daughter team handing off Broken to another mother daughter team. So we took their vision and ran with it. We learned so much over the last 7 months ... about the Broken customers, about downtown Palestine, about what ladies in Palestine and the area are looking for, and ultimately about how important it is for us to stick to what we do and how we best serve our customers
If you don't know, we own other clothing and gift stores that we've built from the ground up. Those stores naturally have our personalities and style built into them, so when a customer comes in they immediately know who we are. They connect with us on our level, whether it is our unique products, our helpful customer service, our love of animals and our local small towns, or maybe all of the above. In building those stores, we were quietly building our "brand" and didn't even realize it. What we figured out was that no matter what sign was on the outside of the building, any store we run will end up having our style and our values at its core. We just can't do it any other way - and we're ok with that. So we've made a decision.
Rather than forcing Broken into our Javelinas (that's our brand...) box, "Broken Boutique" is closing as of 8/29 to make room for something new. It's the end of that era, at least with us at the wheel. If there is someone out there who wants to carry on the Broken name and vision, feel free to reach out to us. We'd love to pass it on to the right person. We believe wholeheartedly that Broken has a place in Palestine and would love to see it continue in downtown with someone who really has a heart for what the Broken brand was built on.
All that said, we do have big plans for our building at 114 W. Main Street. The store is going quiet for bit while we make some exciting changes inside and something new and more "us" is on its way. A new look, all new inventory (don't worry your favorite brands aren't going anywhere), and a new name. One thing we will be sticking to is the same friendly, everyone-welcome, no pressure shopping environment we've shown our Broken customers over the last 7 months.
So if you've had your eye on something at Broken, now's the time. Come grab it this week and say see you soon to the ladies who have done such an amazing job serving you over the last 7 months. Montana, Rachel and Emily will continue to be at ONE Twelve across the street and they'll be back to help launch this new store when it's ready.

ONE MORE EXCITING THING...
Since I'm here I also want to let y'all know that we are working with Tara and Rick Farris on the revitalization of Old Magnolia. And we are SO excited about it. While they roll out extended hours at the sandwich shop and their Ice Cream bar (yum!!), we'll be taking over the Mercantile section and working with the vendors to transform that space into a new, fresh shopping experience that mixes the best of their vintage finds with new housewares, gourmet food, gift ideas and local souvenirs so you'll have a go-to gift stop for everyone on your list (and yourself) anytime you need something unique and special. Watch for more details on that soon!

I know this is long, but I did want to take a second to say THANK YOU to everyone who has shown up for us over the last 7 months at both Broken and ONE Twelve. The people who have supported us, come to our events, shopped with us and really made it possible for us to be where we are right now, on the edge of some things we are so excited and passionate about. We can't wait to share it with you and everyone in East Texas.
