Tell me you sell vintage without telling me lol. Buying something to sell and end up keeping!

In our last show, it was this wooden owl and red bunny. I love them so much. If I love something and think I may never find another one, that’s usually when I keep it.

What’s something you ended up keeping? 💜💚

Having trouble keeping up with your Whatnot chat?
Let’s talk about it. 💜💚❤️🩵

Reading your chat is one of the most important habits you can develop as a live seller because it’s where the people watching get to become part of your show. Questions about an item, someone saying hello, helpful information, a compliment or a conversation happening between viewers can all be sitting there while you’re focused on selling, and you don’t want to move so quickly that you consistently miss them.

A moderator can be a huge help, especially while you’re getting comfortable going live. If you don’t have one, consider asking a regular in your show or another seller you trust if they’d be willing to mod. They can help welcome people, catch questions you may have missed and bring your attention back to something important in the chat.

*How to mod someone? Click their username > tap allow to moderate

The other piece is finding a show flow that gives you time to read. As you present an item, focus on showing it well and sharing what people need to know, then intentionally look at your chat before moving to the next item. You can scroll back if something went by too quickly, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a few seconds to catch up. You’re live, so it doesn’t need to feel perfectly scripted or rushed.

That rhythm also gives you natural opportunities to reintroduce yourself throughout the show. After a raid, when a new wave of people comes in or every so often during a longer show, tell people who you are, where you’re from and what they can expect from you. Someone may have entered your room 30 seconds ago and know absolutely nothing about you. Your inventory may have gotten their attention, but your personality, knowledge and passion for what you sell give them an opportunity to connect with you.

If you love to talk, keep talking! That can be one of your greatest strengths on live. Just remember that a great conversation has room for both sides. Give your chat opportunities to respond, read what they say and let their questions or comments take the conversation somewhere you may not have planned. Sometimes the best parts of a live show happen because you noticed what someone said instead of immediately moving to what you planned to say next.

And don’t measure engagement only by how many names you see typing. Plenty of people will watch without commenting, and some may never purchase anything. Others will come specifically to shop, support you or spend some time in your show. Reading and responding to your chat creates a welcoming experience for everyone watching, including the people who never say a word.

You don’t need to read every single comment to be good at this. You just don’t want your chat to become background noise while you sell. When people take the time to be part of your show, make room for them to actually be part of it. Keep practicing and you will get better at this!

Before you decide what you want from September, ask yourself how amazing what you already have could become!

🌻Pick a seller whose show you genuinely enjoy and write down five things they do that make you want to stay and watch. Not to copy them, but to notice what creates a great experience from the other side of the screen. Then give your own show that same attention.

Look beyond what needs fixing and pay attention to what’s already working. Your energy is great, but your flow could be smoother. People love your inventory, but you could present it even better. Your personality is great, but your camera angle needs fixing. Your set up is good, but you need better lighting. Sometimes the next level of your business isn’t found by changing everything, it’s found by recognizing something good and caring enough to make it exceptional.

This should get you so excited! Turn that excitement into your fuel to make your next move. Your business is never limited to what it looks like today, and neither are you. Every show gives you more experience, every idea gives you something new to try, and every month gives you another chance to raise your own standard.

Give September 30 days to show you what happens when you stop settling for “this works” and start asking, “how exceptional could this become?”

✨ A Little Inspiration with House of Coop ✨
Let’s talk baskets! 🧺

After deep diving into baskets for this post, it really made us want to start adding more of them around our own home. I knew there would be a lot of possibilities, but once I started looking, I kept finding things I hadn’t thought of and ended up saving way more pictures than I could ever fit into one post.

I really enjoyed seeing how creative people get with them. What caught my attention most was how much a basket can change depending on everything around it. I found them in primitive homes, colorful spaces, cottage rooms, 70s interiors, more traditional homes and even mixed with really modern pieces. It gave me a whole new appreciation for just how much you can do with them.

The first picture is actually ours! I had to include it because I remember discovering that you could hang little mini baskets from a vintage mug tree when we had them in one of our Whatnot shows. 😍

The rest of these aren’t our photos, but I spent a lot of time pulling together a mix that I hope gets you looking at baskets with fresh eyes too. There are some really unexpected uses throughout these pictures, and quite a few have me looking around our own house wondering where we could add more!

💜💚❤️🩵

Now we want to see yours! Show or tell us about the baskets you have around your home and how you’re using them. Or maybe you’ll think of adding them to your home.

We hope you all feel inspired! 🧺

If you’re enjoying our ✨ A Little Inspiration with House of Coop ✨ series, give this post a like! We’d love to keep sharing more vintage inspiration with you.

You know how easy it can be to make a BIG impact for a Whatnot seller? 💌

We all have budgets and can’t buy in every show, but when you’re able, find a seller working toward 1,000 sales and check their Buy It Now. Sometimes a $1 or $3 purchase is another completed sale toward a milestone that can make a real difference in their business. Sellers can support other sellers.

We just picked up a handful of packages from sellers we supported toward their goals, and it was such a good reminder that support doesn’t have to be expensive to be meaningful.

A small purchase to you might be a really big deal to someone working toward that next sale.

🚨Sellers, don’t forget: If you’re working toward 1K, items need to be purchased individually to count as individual orders. Buying multiple quantities of the same BIN listing at once does not count as multiple orders.

🚨Fun fact: It took us 6 months to hit our first 1k. You got this!

Share your favorite fall recipe! 🍂 I’ll go first!

I got this recipe from the sweetest vendor at Guthrie's Corner Market and Antiques grand opening when we were in Tennessee. She made this banana punch for the gathering, and it was such a hit that it was gone before you knew it. She had handwritten copies ready for anyone who wanted the recipe, so of course I snatched one up to share with all of you!

BANANA PUNCH 🍌

2 cups sugar
2 cups water
6 oz frozen orange juice
5 bananas, mashed
1 46 oz can pineapple juice
1/4 cup lemon juice, sprinkled on bananas
3 qts ginger ale, chilled

Combine sugar and water and cook to a syrup on low for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and add orange juice. Add the remaining ingredients except the ginger ale and freeze it.

Turn the frozen mixture into a punch bowl and chunk it up. Add the chilled ginger ale to make a semi-slush punch.

Now share your favorite fall recipe in the comments so we can all get some new ideas! 💜💚❤️🩵
