Vincel Lee Burke, 89, of Rural Parsons, died at 10:28 A. M., Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Labette Health. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

He was born February 23, 1937 at Wichita, to Andy and Hazel Viola (Burke) Tate. He grew and attended school at Wichita, KS area. He later moved to Parsons where was lovingly embraced into Charles and Shirley Greenwood’s family in 1959. He spent sixty-five plus years farming and being the most loving son, brother, uncle and great-uncle.
He enjoyed drawing, playing cards, listening to music, watching westerns, and spending as much time as possible with family and friends, especially the nieces and nephews.

Three sisters – Tracy Greenwood, Parsons, KS
Jennifer Blackburn (Charlie), Parsons, KS
Connie Samples, Parsons, KS
He was preceded in death by one sister – Pam Dayhuff.

McHenry "Big Mack" Harris, 73, of Parsons, passed away at 12:19 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Good Samaritan in Parsons. Visitation will be June 18, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 405 Main St, Parsons, KS 67357. The funeral service will take place on June 19, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 2215 Appleton St., Parsons, KS 67357, with burial following at Oakwood Cemetery, Parsons.

McHenry Harris was born on October 13, 1952, in Monroe, LA, to Joseph and Katie E. (Edwards) Harris.

Upon relocating to Parsons, Kansas, he embarked on a career path that demonstrated his commitment to service and hard work. He initially worked for Individual Mausoleum and subsequently contributed his efforts at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. His most enduring professional chapter was with Power Flame, where he devoted over thirty years of service before retiring.

McHenry was more than his career; he was a man who cherished spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of bowling as a member of the team known as the "Homeboys," and found peace and pleasure in fishing during his leisure moments. His personality was distinguished by a genuine kindness and a welcoming nature that made all feel at home in his presence.

In his spiritual life, McHenry was a dedicated member of the Macedonia Soul-Winning Church Ministry in Parsons, where he found fellowship and solace.

McHenry married Trebie Ford and to this union the couple welcomed a son, Mike Ford.

numerous great-grandchildren

Three brothers; Gus Harris and wife Evelyn, Robert Harris, and Thomas Harris, all of Parsons

Two sisters; Katie B. Harris and Annie Jones with husband Kenneth, all of Parsons

Numerous nieces and nephews.

McHenry was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Joseph "Sonny" Harris, Jr.

Wanda Nell Jackson, 88, of Parsons, formerly of Denison, TX, died at 12:25, P.M., Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Cherryvale Nursing Home.

Ruth Buck, 102, of Girard, died at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026 in Via Christi Village in Pittsburg. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m., Wednesday until service time. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard. Ruth was born November 3, 1923 in Yale, Kansas, a daughter of George W. and Mary E. (Cochran) Cobb.

She grew up and attended schools in Walnut before moving to Girard in 1947.

Ruth married Charles Don Buck on May 18, 1947 in Girard and Don preceded her in death on February 6, 1981.

Ruth worked in the old Girard Hospital, she was a part time telephone operator, and worked part time at the Girard Press. She made wedding cakes for numerous years and in 1966 she began selling Electrolux vacuum cleaners in the Girard area.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church in Girard and she enjoyed baking.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Buck, and his wife, Karen, of Girard and Roger Buck, and his wife, Deborah, of St. Charles, Missouri; Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Jean Buck, in 1954; her brothers, Calvin Cobb and Howard Cobb; her sisters, Anna Lou Inman and Elizabeth Lyons.

Stephen Leslie Baer, affectionately known as Steve, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Parsons, Kansas, at the age of 79. Born on June 5, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida, Steve lived a life marked by dedication, loyalty, and love. No Services are planned at this time. Private burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Honors given by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
A proud veteran, Steve devoted 26 years of service to the United States Air Force, including a memorable 37-month deployment in Southeast Asia, where he served in Vietnam and Thailand. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his stories of those years reflected both the challenges and camaraderie of military life.

Outside of his military career, Steve cherished moments spent on the golf course and treasured time with family and friends. His membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.), where he served as Vice Commander, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (ELKs) were testaments to his community spirit and love for fellowship.

Steve was a devoted father who instilled pride and values in his children, ensuring they always knew how proud he was of them. His loyalty and loving nature were evident in every aspect of his life.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lola Baer; his parents, William D. and Leola M. Baer; and his son, Timothy A. Baer. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, Frank A. Baer and William D. Baer Jr.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Baer (Brian) of Portland, Oregon; his son, Mark Baer (Kimberly) of Molalla, Oregon; and step-daughter Jackie Thies (Jan) of Quarryville, PA. He also leaves behind two stepsons, Michael Bendixen (Lisa) of Casper, WY, and Raymond Carl Bindixen (Robin) of Parsons. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and eleven step-great-grandchildren.

A private family burial will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, where Steve will be laid to rest beside his loved ones.

Steve's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the stories shared by his family, friends, and fellow servicemen and women. His unwavering devotion to his family and country serves as a lasting inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Arlice G. Smith, 89, of Oregon, Wisconsin, and formerly of Parsons, passed away the morning of Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Beehive Home of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jackson “Jack” Smith, on August 2, 2024.

Oliver D. Jarman, infant, of Edna, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.

Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, Parsons.

Randy Brown, 67, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at his residence. There will be a Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00 p.m., June 20, 2026 at Tony’s Function Junction in Erie.

Randy Joe Brown was born on May 24, 1959, to Jack D. and Sandra Lee (McDonald) Brown in Parsons. He grew up and attended school in Erie and St. Paul, graduating from Erie High School in 1977. Following high school, he earned an associate’s degree.

A talented musician, Randy was the guitarist for The Second Chance Band, while working in the oil fields. For a time, he ran the Eagle’s and even modeled double-breasted suits for JC Penney’s. In 1995, Randy started his HVAC business, which he owned and operated for 31 years.

A loving father, Randy tried to instill creativity in his children. He enjoyed using his creative talents in music and oil painting. His quick wit and clever storytelling helped him befriend most everyone he met, and his distinctive voice and laughter added to his charm. Riding Harleys, collecting guns and watching Westerns were some of Randy’s favorite past times.

On September 30, 2022, Randy and Dana Jean Adams were united in marriage at the Erie Baptist Church. She survives of the home.

Seven grandchildren – Gage Gannaway, Hailee McClelland, Dallas Brown, Kaison Brown, Kamri Golden, Roman Webb, and Alex Webb

One brother – Kevin Standley (Kathy) of St. Paul, Kansas

One sister – Kimberly Standley of St. Paul, Kansas
