South Shore Women’s Business Network, TypeOneFamilies.org, and Lyn Evans Host Fashion Show Supporting type 1 diabetes Community
The event features inclusive designs from KINNAMON Clothing and honors National Diabetes Awareness Month by raising funds and awareness for families living with the chronic condition.
BOSTON, MA — November 12, 2025 — In celebration of National Diabetes Awareness Month, the South Shore Women’s Business Network (SSWBN), TypeOneFamilies.org, and Lyn Evans of Wellesley will co-host a type one Fundraising Fashion Show and Luncheon on Saturday, November 15, to raise funds and awareness for Massachusetts families living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
The event will take place at Trattoria San Pietro beginning at 12:00 p.m., welcoming approximately 100 guests, including families managing T1D, healthcare advocates, and community supporters. All proceeds will benefit TypeOneFamilies.org, a nonprofit organization providing education, community support, and financial assistance for families navigating the challenges of T1D care.
The afternoon will feature the latest seasonal fashions modeled by women and mothers personally impacted by type 1 diabetes, celebrating resilience, style, and community. A highlight of the runway will be KINNAMON (kinnamonclothing.com), a women’s fashion brand founded by twin sisters Naomi and Natalie Kinnamon of New Jersey, whose mission is to create functional, inclusive, and stylish clothing for people living with type 1 diabetes.
“When I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 11, I struggled to find clothing that accommodated my insulin pump without sacrificing style,” said Naomi Kinnamon, co-founder and CEO of KINNAMON. “While studying fashion design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I made it my mission to design beautiful, functional garments for people managing diabetes every day.”
Trish Happel, of Lyn Evans, added: “Women managing type 1 diabetes often juggle invisible challenges every day. We’re proud to host this event to celebrate their strength—and to raise funds that directly help families access the support and resources they deserve.”
For Type One Families.org founder Nancy Gaudetfelt, this cause is deeply personal. “When my nine-year-old son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I started a small monthly support group for local parents,” Gaudetfelt shared. “That small gathering has grown into a nonprofit supporting more than 400 families across Massachusetts. Today’s event represents the community we’ve built together.”
Gaudetfelt’s advocacy has earned her recent recognition from the Red Sox Foundation and Sun Life for her leadership and community impact.
