Jacoby… who do you think you are?
That might sound harsh, but let’s be honest — that is exactly what a lot of Arizona football fans are thinking right now.
One win last season. Now a holdout?
That is where the frustration starts.
This is not about fans saying Jacoby Brissett is a bad quarterback. That is not the point. A lot of fans actually respect what he did when he stepped in last season. He showed toughness. He showed leadership. He gave the offense some stability when the team needed it. There are fans who believe he played well enough to deserve more money.
But there is a difference between deserving a raise and acting like the whole fan base should just sit back and wait while the quarterback situation gets cloudy again.
And that is where Arizona fans are stuck right now.
Some fans are saying, “Pay him a little more. He earned that.”
Other fans are saying, “Prove it first.”
But almost everybody agrees on one thing:
The silence is not helping.
Arizona fans are tired of being left in the dark. We are tired of waiting until preseason. We are tired of guessing what the plan is. We are tired of hearing rumors, seeing questions online, and wondering if the front office already knows something the fans do not.
Because this fan base has been through enough.
We have had hope. We have had disappointment. We have had quarterback drama. We have had seasons where we thought things were finally turning around, only to end up asking the same questions again.
And now, when it feels like Arizona has a real opportunity to build something better, here we are again talking about the quarterback situation.
That is why 59 News has to ask what the fans are already asking.
The 5 Questions Arizona Fans Are Asking
1. Does #7 deserve the raise?
This is the biggest question.
A lot of fans believe Jacoby deserves more than what he is currently getting. If the team views him as a serious option, then the money should reflect that.
But does he deserve top quarterback money?
That is where fans are divided.
Arizona fans can respect the work he put in and still say, “Hold on, we need to see more.”
One win does not erase all doubt. One strong stretch does not automatically make the fan base fully sold. Fans want to believe in him, but trust has to be earned.
2. Is this about respect, money, or the starting job?
That is what fans are trying to figure out.
Is Jacoby holding out because he wants more guaranteed money? Is he looking for respect from the front office? Is he trying to make sure the team sees him as the guy?
Those are fair questions.
But when nobody is saying anything clearly, fans are left to fill in the blanks. And when fans start filling in the blanks, frustration grows fast.
3. Why now?
This is the part that irritates fans the most.
Arizona is trying to build chemistry. The team is trying to move forward. The fan base wants to believe this season can be different.
So why is the quarterback situation becoming a distraction now?
Fans want the team focused. Fans want leadership. Fans want everybody locked in.
A holdout does not feel like “locked in” to the fan base.
4. What is the front office doing?
This is not just on Jacoby.
The front office needs to understand that fans want clarity too.
Arizona fans know teams like to keep things quiet. We know front offices do not always tell the public everything. But at some point, the fan base deserves to know the direction.
Is Jacoby the plan? Is there competition? Is the team comfortable letting this situation drag out?
Fans do not need every private detail, but they do need some kind of direction.
Because this is not just business to us.
This is our team.
5. How much trust does the fan base still have?
This might be the real question.
As fans, we want to believe in Jacoby. We want to believe he can lead. We want to believe the team knows what it is doing.
But trust is fragile.
And right now, a lot of fans are saying:
“I don’t know about you, but as a fan, I’ve lost some trust in #7.”
That does not mean the trust is gone forever. It does not mean fans are turning on him completely.
It means the fan base is irritated.
It means fans are tired of uncertainty.
It means fans are wondering if the player asking for more has done enough to make everybody believe without hesitation.
Arizona Fans Are Not Against Jacoby
Let’s be clear.
This is not about tearing Jacoby down.
This is about accountability.
Arizona fans can respect him and still question the holdout. Fans can believe he deserves a raise and still ask if he has earned everything he is asking for. Fans can want him back and still be frustrated with the way this situation feels.
That is what real fans do.
We care. We react. We question. We talk about it because we want this team to win.
And when the quarterback situation feels uncertain, the whole fan base feels it.
59 News Is Here — And We Are Not Holding Out
This is why 59 News exists.
We are here to say what the fans are saying.
We are here to ask the questions the fan base is already asking in comments, groups, tailgates, and conversations all over Arizona.
We are not pretending to have all the answers. The answers have to come from the player and the front office.
But we know what the fans are feeling.
They are frustrated.
They are confused.
They are trying to stay hopeful.
And they want clarity.
So Jacoby, this is not personal. But the fan base has questions.
One win last season. Now a holdout?
Some fans still believe in you. Some fans think you deserve more. Some fans think you need to prove more first.
But right now, the silence is loud.
And Arizona fans are listening.
