Staying home for Thanksgiving and wearing the sweater I exactly 4 years ago that I haven't worn since because I thought it "made me look fat" when now I AM actually 45+/- lb heavier... because if not now when and really who cares. I saw a TikTok the other day where the lady was like "just do it fat" and that is the vibe I am clinging to while conversely also re-starting 19:5 intermittent fasting LOL.

I made a skirt! Signed up for a class at the community college and finished this in last night's class so of course wore it today even though waist is a bit loose. Followed a gathered skirt tutorial from but made the waistband wider. The fabric was from my upstairs hoard and a safari print. Everything else is - There are 5 more classes so I am excited to make another garment or two? I learned how to blindstitch hem a pair of Wiley's work pants too.

This afghan* popped up in my Google Photos memories from 6 years ago this week so I thought I would share as that was prior to this IG account.

Now that I am working more I haven't been able to as much lately (which is OK, my current creative outlet is putting together outfits to wear to work)... but seeing this photo I am inspired to start up a series of afghans for family & friends. Afghans are far easier to meditatively sit and work a few rows on each day instead of oh I don't know wasting time scrolling social media...

*6 years ago I made this afghan to ship up to Iowa as a comfort gift for my Dad who was entering last month of his life. I am grateful I was able to fly up there myself a few weeks later in order to help as he started in-home hospice care. RIP "LD" 5/29/15

I believe mom still has the afghan in use in her apartment and I hope it becomes a family heirloom much like the ones we have from Grandma Dargin (his mom). I have made a couple more afghans since then, which Stew & I have claimed, so now it is time to make some for the boys. (I believe Grandma Dargin made one for each of her grandkids.)

Facebook robot algorithm thing sent me a couple notifications of the variety "Fans of your page miss you" and it is true, I sort of forgot to add the last several projects here so this page has been pretty dormant since January. I know you are all heartbroken LOL. So here is a big dump of cropped screenshots from Instagram just to bring it up to date. I went through and added a caption to each one, kind of interesting to reflect on them after time has passed...

First hookin' of 2019... a llama applique for Milo's "ELA" (reading) teacher. He had seen a stuffed at WalMart on the weekend and had mentioned wanting to get it for his teacher's birthday. Then he mentioned it again yesterday morning and asked if I would buy it while he was at school. I had said it was probably a little too big (it was one of those bigger Valentine's plushies) but maybe I could something, thinking maybe a little amigurumi? But by time I got around to it, after dinner at 7pm, I went for one of the first and cutest results that came up in my Google... the Baby Boho Llama pattern from ❤ With a 90 min break at 8:30 (for a Parks & Rec and an Outlander), I got it done by midnight. This morning I temporarily stitched it to a sheet of black cardstock, slid it into a sheet protector and told Milo to tell her she could just display it as is or sew it onto something. If I had more time I'd have tried making a back to it and slightly stuffing it for a flat type plush. I thought it turned out cute though and had to quell my inner craft perfectionist a few times in order to not stay up any later. The colors for the blanket were just the easiest ends for me to grab from my basket at 11:30 PM, but I like that they are a little sunset 70s retro vibe.

Latest for my funky hat collection, holiday edition. Another from .mars 's pattern, but I purposefully made the ridge lines swirl a little bit and used 3 colors. Finished in the car on the way to Stew's work party Saturday night, in order to wear it there since it was "casual dress" and got several compliments. Wore it again today, to the Y and on errands, and it seems to bring random strangers holiday cheer too, so that's cool.

Some of my projects from when I was offline last month... Clockwise from top left = 1) Repurposed a black openwork shrug I had made over a year ago but I rarely wore because it fit weird, by handstitching & cutting a neckhole in it, yay! 2) Started & finished the sweater pattern by and wore it to Thanksgiving dinner. 3) Last week I improvised an themed tulle ribbon wreath to gift to my BFF during my visit (finished while there). 4) Made the Peaked Ridgeline Slouchy Hat by .mars to add to my personal funky hat collection.

Just finished this Everyday Top, pattern by - I added 3 rows of same HDC, CH1 stitch pattern for "sleeves" and took it longer, first to 30 rows, and then I added 3 more rows front & back in the sleeve color for balance. It is basically two rectangles stitched together, no front or back, so I can wear it either side forward... was feeling the muted colors today... Still using up Lionbrand Mandala skeins I bought quite a few of since I like the colors offered and how it is lighter weight. This was Wizard colorway and there is still 2.5 colors (a little less than half?) left in the skein.

I finished a shawl I had started a couple weeks ago (thinking could wear to a wedding with this dress) and wore it to a memorial service this afternoon (bottom right). Then came home and played around with how many ways to wear it. Never been much of a scarf/shawl person but maybe it is something you age into because I love it! Followed Amara Shawl pattern from and used another Lionbrand "shawl in a cake" balls of yarn in Namaste Neutrals colorway which has a gold sparkly thread throughout. The pattern calls for beads, which I used gold ones I had on hand.

Started and finished the Galactic Orbits top by this past weekend, a pattern I had favorited several years ago, but only now got around to buying from the Ravelry site, using my recent etsy sale profit. It was quick & pleasing to work up. I like the asymmetric design. I used #3 weight Lionbrand Cupcake in color Tundra, and an I hook, which is what was directed for size S-M, and it fits pretty good! Might try another in what I have left over of that brighter colorway. Will try reducing the first few rounds by 6 to 8 stitches since a little wonky there on my body (probably lack of bust). Also I have seen some other finished projects of this pattern where they made it even longer, to tunic or even dress length, which would be fun.
