Exciting news…

In November I submitted an abstract, "Textile Embossing, an Innovative Fabric Modification Process". The selection process was blind juried by the Selection Committee of the Costume Commission.

My abstract was accepted! I will be presenting at the Poster Session for the USITT Annual Conference in March 2014. My will be an overview of the textile embossing process I have developed, emBELLAtex™.

The United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), www.USITT.org, is the association of design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry.

Thank you Lloyd Cracknell and Mike Buchwald of the Costume Department at the University of Oklahoma for suggesting I submit for the Poster Session. They felt it was the right venue to introduce emBELLAtex™ to the industry.

I will be posting pictures of the 2013 presentation gowns for the Krewe of Contraband Mardi Gras Ball, soon. It was a beautiful ball, the Krewe celebrated their 50th Anniversary. I am so honored to have been a part of 25 of their 50 Balls. Where does the time go!?!

In the mean time you can read the latest article that Terry Banker and I wrote for the Virtual Costumer...and we got the COVER! what a thrill!

A huge thank you the Virtual Costumer's editor
Philip Gust, for his encouragement and patience in waiting until the Ball was over for me to start writing the article.

An equally huge thank you to Terry Banker, my friend who makes me sound much better than I ever could with my own words.

Lastly, but most importantly, thank you to Amanda and Rob. Without their care and patience I would not have been able to do any of this. After all, they are the ones who put up with my imagination and allow me to be a "crazy woman".

Costuming tip....Did you know you can remove hot glue from crystal or glass rhinestones with alcohol!?!
Attached stone...I dip a cosmetic applicator (like a Q-tip but one end has a point and the other is wider and flat) in alcohol, touch it to the stone, let it sit for
a few seconds then rub stone with applicator. The glue will desolve, then wipe the stone dry.
Loose stone...place stone in alcohol, allow the glue to dissolve then wipe the stone dry.
This also works for pins that have hot glue on them!
