Joanie’s Pink Journey/PSA/Update:
Just when I was ready to get the business up and running, after a few months of reorganizing the business…
March 11th 2025, my breast cancer journey started. A small mass was found by mammogram and ultrasound in my left breast. This was only six months out from my last exam, which I was closely watched due to multiple cysts.
On March 17th, 2025, I had a needle biopsy (marker inserted as well) which resulted in the diagnosis of, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and Tubular Focal Features. March 19th, I was told to make the appointment with an Oncologist after the diagnosis was confirmed. From there everything took off so quickly I had surgery (April 28th) to remove the cancer and several lymph nodes (for testing). Many appoints, you name it…
It was quite the experience however, I believe the outcome of the partial mastectomy was better than expected.
After the healing I had 16 rounds of radiation.
I rang the bell, July 11th, praise God!
I’ve had several follow ups with the doctors involved and strongly recommend to seek physical therapy for evidence of lymphatic issues. I just completed my physical therapy (3/5/26) and hopefully, fully completed my
“Pink Journey”.
My motto during my journey was,
“Faith Over Fear”. Yes, I had my moments but that’s when I quickly realized as a woman of faith, I need to pray and realize, He’s using this for the greater good.
Yes, this is incredibly personal however, if it prompts someone to seek an exam, it’s all worth it. I can’t stress enough…”early detection saves lives”. I must add, this has been such a learning experience in so many ways. I’ve learned that there are many different types of breast cancers AND…too many women (men too) affected by breast cancer. My own grandmother (mother’s mother) died from breast cancer. Many others, that I know personally have been diagnosed and gone through the breast cancer journey. Of course there are many other cancers too. That’s why it’s so important to keep up with health appointments and anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to get checked out. You have, “one” you, “one” body, “one life”. Take care of yourself.
Thank you for reading and especially if you’ve followed my journey. That’s my, “ long story short version”. There’s so much more I’d like to share. If you have questions for me, you may ask in comments or send me a message. If you have medical concerns, please contact your doctor. Again…”Early Detection Saves Lives”.
Moving forward into the next chapter, I’ve learned, life is precious and short. It could be even shorter or harder. Some circumstances are totally out of our control but what is…is how you handle it. What you allow. I chose to live a life of seeking everything healthy (physically and mentally). Cutting out everything that is unhealthy. That includes situations, unhealthy relationships, habits and behaviors. Making this decision from this day forward, the anniversary of the “Pink Journey”.
I cannot go without thanking those who played a positive, supportive, loving role in all of this. Those who stayed, didn’t ask for anything in return. Those who respected the space I needed and the job I had, that was “one job”!
Simply saying…thank you!
In many ways…
“I’m not done yet!
As far as the business, I’ve been gradually working behind the scenes getting organized (I’ve donated a huge amount of quality merch) after pausing for the journey when needed. I’ve been praying for direction, wisdom and clarity along with protection. Unfortunately, not everyone is genuine, honest and kind in the business world.
Guess you’ll just have to stay tuned for what’s next.
Feel free to share, follow and add an encouraging comment from time to time.
Sincerely with love, hugs and blessings,
