The Barn

The Barn Building the Barn is an ongoing project. As Yankees, we value "Reuse & Recycle" and the barn itself is a testament to that.

As the Clarksville Freedom Trails landowners, it's time to "Reduce" some of our collection and support the trails in the process.

For those inquiring about the Clarksville Freedom Trails, they were built to have a place that was safe to walk away from the motorized trails in the area. They are easy trails, 8 feet wide with a gravel base, which over these last 20+ years have begun to grass over. We are grateful for everyone that has supported the trails in the past, some by donating their time in mowing and maintaining the trails, and others with their monitary donations. "The Barn" is a new venture to help raise funds and support the landowners.

Having a map handy always helps! The trails cover about 50 acres of the old Chappell Family farm. The property has been in the family for multiple generations dating back to pre-1850. The yellow trail starts at the upper (East) entrance and exits at the lower (West) entrance. The Yellow trail is called Maple Grove because it traverses through the maple trees that used to be tapped over 40 years ago. The red trail is called Round Wood because originally the edges of the trail were banked with round pieces of cut trees. The white trail is called the Bridge Loop because this is where you will find the covered bridge. The blue and purple trails are the Upper Wilderness and Lower Wilderness. They received their names because of a Tillotson grant that helped fund those two trails. They were cut in to make a shorter option when walking the trails.
