I’ve been commissioned to make some F Bombs again!

40-50 to be exact!

So I got straight to work last night and got half way finished with one last night. Now I’m trying to relearn how to embroider the F on with a duplicate stitch. Not happy with the space, so gotta rip it out and try again!

I’m so excited to work on this fun project for the next month or so! Wish me luck! Once i get going, it’s easy, but the initial start with the double pointed needles is tough!

I am so excited about this business idea that combines two things I’m passionate about, crocheting and teaching!

Many years ago, I was an elementary teacher (I still teach now, it just looks different)! I enjoy being in the classroom and using children’s books to teach concepts.

When I was asked to be a mystery reader for my neice’s first grade classroom, I was so excited. I began to think about what book I wanted to read, and went down a rabbit hole creating an entire lesson plan and then making monster stuffies for each of her classmates!

Being in the classroom was so much fun, and made me think that this could be a way to combine my two passions! I’d love to come to a classroom near you and offer this experience to more kiddos!

If you’d like more info, send me a message and we can make arrangements and set a date for a fun mini lesson on collaboration. I’m hoping to stay with one grade in each school, allowing me to come back the following year for a new group of students.

I feel like I’ve been mostly quiet on here since we moved. It’s been difficult to find time to work on projects when my studio was a mess and unorganized.

A few weeks ago, however, I finally had time and energy to get things together! Now I feel my studio is perfect (enough) and I can actually organize my thoughts and materials to begin crocheting and creating again. Just in time for cozy season!

So I’m starting off with a cute Kawaii spider by 3amgracedesigns, and I’m going to try to work through quite a few of her patterns from the crochet kits I got from her over the last few years!

My daughter is loving my studio too, and keeps busy on her tablet, or playing with some things I set up for her in this space.

I enjoy crocheting these little monsters that kiddos design! This young person had me wondering if they were trying to mimic a character.
My older children and I started to guess. Bluey didn’t seem right, she doesn’t have red shoes. Then we noticed the spikes on the back, and one of my boys guessed Sonic. I hadn’t finished it, so I reached out to the teacher and they were trying to make Sonic!
So I used as much of the child’s drawing for inspiration , but then went extra with the spikes on the back!
I think they will be so excited to receive their drawing come to life, don’t you!?!

Back in late February, I was invited to be a mystery reader at my niece’s first grade classroom! Obviously I have a few children’s books that have yarn/crochet/knit themes, so I chose 2 of those.

Being a former teacher, I couldn’t just go in and read a book about crochet because I love it. I also had to do a show and tell with some yarn and tools, and some of the cool things I’ve made (one being an old baby blanket I made for Aria)!

But no! I didn’t stop there! I knew I had a crochet activity for kids to color their own monsters, and then I follow the patterns to bring them to life. So that’s what I did! I volunteered to make 19 crochet monsters for 19 first graders! lol 🤪

I started some right away, but then had to work on a commission project, and by then it was late April. I pushed hard throughout May, but unfortunately didn’t finish in time for the end of school. I still have 3 more to make, but the kiddos know they will get their little monsters.

But just look at how cute they all turned out and how different!! Be on the lookout for more posts with closeups of each monster and the child’s drawing!

Look at this adorable fishy play-set I custom made for a friend and customer!
This turned out so cute and was such fun to make!

The little fish are based off everyone’s favorite fish friends and their educational manta ray! 😘☺️

Ruby Ray the Manta Ray and all her fishy friends are ready for a fun adventure. The manta ray even has a pocket for her mouth that can hold most of the fishy friends.
