Patience as a Virtue
Patience isn’t just waiting, it’s trusting the process. A virtuous woman waits with grace, knowing that good things come in due time.
As women of virtue, one of the most challenging disciplines we must cultivate is learning how to wait, and more importantly, how to wait well. There’s a distinct difference between simply waiting and waiting with grace, faith, and intentionality.
I’ll be honest, like many others, I often find myself wanting what I want, when I want it. But I’m learning that the posture of my heart during the waiting season reveals a great deal about my trust in God. Do I truly believe He will do what He promised?
Because God is the author and finisher of our faith, He knows not only what is best for us, but also the right time for us to receive it, if at all. Trusting Him to fulfill His promises requires active faith. And in that waiting, we’re called to do more than just sit idly by. We are called to wait with grace. To work while we wait. To wait joyfully. To wait prayerfully.
The enemy would love nothing more than to push us into making premature decisions, tempting us to move ahead of God’s timing. But when we act out of impatience or fleshly desire, we risk mishandling the very thing that was meant to be a blessing, and potentially losing it altogether.
So let us commit to practicing the discipline of waiting well. Let us trust that God sees the desires of our hearts, and that He is faithful to fulfill those desires in His perfect timing, if they align with His will. And if they don’t, we can rest in the assurance that He has something even better in store.
Wait well. Wait with joy. Trust the process, and trust the One who holds your future.
