Please cut back or postpone your discretionary water usage in Pleasant Hill.
WATER RESTICTION UPDATE 7/4/2023 5:55 AM:
Water conservation will CRITICALLY important today in order to maintain pressure for safe drinking water. We expected to be able to fill the tower overnight, but our consumption continued to exceed our secondary supply.
Based on yesterday’s demand, we will be close on the timeline for when the system loses pressure which results in a boil order until test results are returned and the expected time for repairs.
We expect to have pumps available later today and to lift restrictions. But, we need your help in conserving and getting the word out to neighbors and friends.

WATER RESTRICTION UPDATE 7/3/2023 5:20 PM:
The City's main water supply is still limited due to a pump failure which prevents the main water supply from feeding the water tower. Currently our backup supply is available but is not sufficient for excessive water usage, especially in drought conditions and with increased fire risks due to the Independence Day holiday.
All water pumps from the primary water source that feed the tower are unavailable. Our crews worked all day to source any temporary solutions while the City's pumps are being repaired, but none are available until tomorrow. We expect this issue to be resolved and adequate water supply levels to be restored by tomorrow evening (7/4).
The City of Pleasant Hill is urging all water customers to limit water consumption over the next 24 hours. If customers can reduce discretionary water consumption, this should allow all customers the ability to utilize water for basic needs (drinking water and sanitation).
Ways you can help reduce water utilization:
1. Turn water sprinkler timers off.
2. Do not water lawns or plants.
3. Do not wash cars. If needed, please do it outside of town (and in a different water district).
4. Do not refill pools.
5. Delay washing clothes, reduce shower times, and limit any other discretionary water usage.
6. Do not throw anything flammable outside or on the ground.
7. Postpone fireworks activity until tomorrow evening if possible - to reduce fire safety risks.
We know it's a holiday with pretty fireworks and explosives. The City has been in communication with the Pleasant Hill Fire Protection District regarding fire suppression, which is currently still available. However, if you have the ability to delay the discharge of fireworks for the next 24 hours, please do so. Better yet, find a friend in a neighboring city and party at their place.
While this restriction applies to the City of Pleasant Hill Water Customers, we ask for the same from our neighbors in PWSD No. 1 as the City is their supplier and PWSD No. 5 as their primary source of water is the same as the City's secondary supplier. While the restrictions are not in place for Water District 5, any reductions in consumption make water sources available for all customers from that supplier. We'd greatly appreciate all assistance from our customers and neighbors.
