Deckadence is hosting Aspen Denney for the upcoming Art Walk on Friday, October 2nd, from 5 to 8 PM.

Aspen is a multimedia artist working with pottery, block printing, polymer clay, and found materials drawing inspiration from nature, magic, and long walks with his dog, Kashi. Swing by the shop to check out his work and say hello.

a heads up

PRESS RELEASE: Optimist Skatepark to Close Temporarily for Maintenance

The City of Pocatello Parks & Recreation Department will temporarily close Optimist Skatepark, located at 972 N. 7th Avenue, beginning Wednesday, September 23, for scheduled maintenance.

Artisan Skateparks, the original contractor for the skate park, will return to complete final work under the warranty portion of its contract with the City. The work will address minor chips and cracks, along with repairs related to normal outdoor weather exposure and wear and tear.

The maintenance is expected to take five to seven days. The skate park will remain closed during this time and will reopen once all work is finished and the area is safe for public use.

The Parks & Recreation Department asks residents to avoid the skate park during the closure to help ensure the work can be completed safely and efficiently.

🚨 GROUP RIDE MEET-UP // Thursday's, 7:00 PM

Years ago, a few local kids started throwing soft longboard wheels on beat-up street decks so they could cruise the neighborhood smoothly and quietly. They called them Wizard Stix.

On Thursdays, we’re keeping that spirit going. Whether you haven't stepped on a board in years, or you're just looking for a relaxed evening cruise, this is for you. No pressure, no gatekeeping. Just a community ride.

We’ll be hitting different trails each week. We're starting easy, but as the summer goes on, we'll slowly work our way up to some faster, more challenging paths. Sticking with us week-to-week is the best way to get your skate legs back before we tackle the hills.

Check our stories every Wednesday for the week's trail drop and meet-up details.

Meeting Point: (This week) Riverside and Ravine (trailhead)

Roll Out: 7:00 PM

Route: Sacajawea Park / Millward Mile

Distance: Approx. 2 miles round trip

Rating: 🟩 / 🟦 Green/Blue (Mostly flat, paved, entirely separated from traffic)

Hazards: A couple rolling hills, standard trail debris, pedestrian traffic.

Grab your cruiser, your longboard, or your regular setup. If your current board feels a bit too rough for the pavement, swing by Deckadence before Thursday and we’ll help you get it sorted out.
