Last pack magic.
Avery The Poke Kid called it, opened the pack, and pulled Jirachi SIR.
Not just any chase. The Wish Pokémon.
Jirachi sleeps a thousand years. It wakes for seven days. The wishes written on the tags on its head are the ones it is said to grant. On the card itself the first attack is named Wish Granter.
Avery spent years opening packs through hospital rooms and hard days. He hit 100K. He got the silver play button. Then he asked the last pack for magic and the universe handed him the one Pokémon whose entire story is a wish that only comes once.
We don’t pretend we know what he wished for. We only know what the rest of us saw: a kid who still smiled at cardboard, signed off the same way he always did — “See you next time, trainers” — and left the hobby a card that now means something it didn’t mean last week.
From ashes to grails. Some pulls are just hits. This one feels like an answer.
Rest easy, Avery.
The tags are still hanging.

Today marks 30 years of Pokémon—and this one hits different.

I can still remember my grandpa taking me to the store for my very first Pokémon pack. I was 6 years old, opened it up, and somehow pulled the holy grail: Charizard.

I was completely in disbelief. From that moment on, I was hooked.

It’s honestly crazy getting to grow up alongside this hobby—going from that kid chasing the feeling of his first pull to being 36, celebrating 30 years of Pokémon with friends, family, and a whole community that understands exactly why these little pieces of cardboard can mean so much.

And it feels like the right day to make Phoenix Pulls’ first official post.

After everything that has happened, I’m rebuilding this business with a bigger vision than ever: a place for collectors, strong holds, grails, stories, art, and the kind of community that made us fall in love with this hobby in the first place.

This is a new beginning. Thank you to everybody who has supported me, believed in me, and will be along for what comes next.

From Ashes to Grails. 🔥
