Is it just me?
Am I the only one who picks up everything in a store, turns it over, and while examining it and how it is constructed says “I can totally make this”?
The sewing obsession started with a weighted blanket for my three year old son who wasn’t sleeping well at night. Constant wake ups and nightmares/night terrors and loss of sleep (for everyone in the house) was taking its toll. I heard about weighted blankets but the prices were just too outrageous for something I wasn’t sure my child would accept and more importantly, for something I wasn’t sure would even work. I did a few google searches, pulled out my 12 year old Singer sewing machine and decided to give DIY a try. The day I finished making his Star Wars weighted blanket, he slept completely through that night and I was hooked. I could count on one hand how many troubled nights we’ve had since then. I know so many moms who are sleep deprived and begging their mom-friends for tips and tricks to get their little one to sleep! I am here to tell you a weighted blanket worked for us and I am also here to help make it affordable to customize the size and fabric to give you the best chance for your child to accept his/her “special blanket”, “big hug blanket”, or whatever you choose to call it.
From there, the focus went bananas --- from weighted blankets to napkins, placemats, baby bibs/handkerchiefs/burpy cloths, oven mitts, pot holders, casserole/bowl/mug coozies, beach covers, even guitar straps! I love sewing anything and like most things I do, I go from sticking my toe in the water to jumping in head first. I am completely obsessed with creating things with my hands and I sell these things to continue the passion. I would love to create something for you or a loved one.
