Some thrift stories are too good not to share.

I spotted this vintage Chanel bag buried at the bottom of a bin of scarves at Goodwill and nearly couldn't believe my eyes. The price? $8.

The hardest part wasn't finding it—it was pretending to stay calm while pushing my cart around the store like nothing had happened. 😂

It was missing its original shoulder strap, desperately needed cleaning and conditioning, and its date code had long since peeled away. But the details were all there, and I knew it was the real deal.

After a trip to Leather Spa NYC and a little creative problem-solving with a vintage Chanel belt for the strap, she's back in business.

Proof that you never know what treasure is waiting at the bottom of a thrift store bin.

What's the best thrift find you've ever scored?

Well… it’s probably time we properly introduced ourselves. 👋

If you’ve been following Monalisa Creations for a while, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been much more active on Instagram than Facebook. But with so many new faces here, I thought it was time for a quick introduction.

I’m Lisa, the founder of Monalisa Creations.

I’ve been collecting and wearing vintage fashion since the 1980s, inspired by a fashion-loving mother and a grandmother who was a talented dressmaker. After a career that took me around the world working in television and media, I traded my corporate life for a full-time pursuit of vintage fashion, design, and storytelling.

Today you’ll find me hunting for unusual treasures, obsessing over Bonnie Cashin, collecting vintage handbags, decorating with mid-century modern finds, and creating Charmlingz, tiny characters inspired by handbags and cartoon art.

Swipe through to learn a little more about me, why I love vintage, and what you’ll find here.

And if we’re meeting for the first time, say hello in the comments! ❤️

I have a soft spot for vintage pieces that make a statement, and this D’Orlan scarab necklace definitely does that.

At 3 inches wide, it’s not exactly subtle, and that’s what makes it so fun. The Egyptian Revival design, oversized scale, and beautiful gold finish give it that perfect blend of fashion and wearable art.

The scarab was an important symbol in ancient Egyptian culture, representing renewal, transformation, and rebirth. Interest in Egyptian-inspired fashion surged again in the 1970s, fueled in part by the blockbuster King Tut exhibitions that captivated audiences around the world.

Vintage jewelry collectors, this one’s for you. ✨.

Most clocks tell time.

The 1970 Kirsch-Hamilton Aurora Clock turns time into art.

Designed by NASA physicist Jordan Kirsch and architect Jim Hamilton, the Aurora uses a phenomenon called birefringence, a fancy term for shining light through special moving plastic filters, to create its constantly shifting colors and patterns.

Part sculpture, part science experiment, part clock, it became a design icon of the 1970s and was featured in both Pl***oy magazine and the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Fifty-five years later, it still feels like something from the future.

Vintage fashion isn’t my only obsession.

Somewhere along the way, I started collecting mid-century and space age clocks too. From sleek Japanese designs to atomic-inspired icons, these little timekeepers are miniature works of art.

This reel only scratches the surface, I have quite a few more to share, and I’ll be featuring more of the collection throughout the week. ⏰✨

And yes… Pink Floyd seemed like the only appropriate soundtrack.

The view changes when you stop doubting yourself. ✨

Sometimes nothing around us has changed at all. The opportunity was there. The path was there. The possibility was there.

The difference is that we finally chose to believe we were capable of reaching it.

Trust yourself a little more than you did yesterday.

🎵 It’s the time of the season…

For bold color. For iconic design. For Bonnie Cashin.

This vibrant 1960s swing coat combines a traffic-stopping wool check with lime leather trim, signature brass turn-lock closures, and the kind of thoughtful practicality that made Cashin a legend. Even the pockets were designed for real life.
