Enough is enough, dammit! First Augie Meyers, then John Hammond Jr, then Roy Bookbinder. Now, I hear from our good friend Mary Flower that Paul Geremia has left the building. The sky has been crying all month, but there is one helluva blues jam going on up there. RIP Paul.

Doggone it... another great one passed away on March 7th: the great Augie Meyers of Sir Douglas Quintet and Texas Tornadoes fame. I also mentioned him recently in relation to John Hammond Jr's passing, as Augie played keys on Hammond's Wicked Grin album and tour. Read on...

Well damn. I just saw an RIP post on a friend’s page for John Hammond Jr. Such a great bluesman. I had the opportunity to present him at The Gothic Theatre in Denver about 25 years ago. It was a rare tour with a full band in support of his Wicked Grin album. Produced by Tom Waits, it was all Tom Waits songs except one. Great record with a big, spacious sound. I highly recommend it. The band included the fantastic Augi Meyers (Sir Douglas Quintet, Texas Tornadoes) on keys. Another great one gone…

Thanks to everyone who came out, stayed, and braved the cold and the dark tonight. Sounds like it was a magical night, listening acoustically “by candlelight”. Can’t believe the power literally went off two seconds (7:29:58pm) before downbeat! Wish I had been there.

And thank you to Matt Sircely, Kate Lichtenstein, Emma Rast, Daniel Ullom and Joe Ellingson for soldiering on. The show must go on!

Finally, kudos to Simon for finally achieving what I have been trying to for decades: making it sound as if there was no amplification at all! A perfect night.
