LITTLE LOST LAMB, misplaced yesterday (Friday, 10/9), on Water Street. There is one very distraught young lass who needs her lamb back. About 9 inches tall, well loved, — may or may not answer to “Snowball”. Please help spread the word and if found call Katie at 206-854-1660. Thank you!!! 🤞❤️

Of course, as the owner of Magpie Alley, I am passionate about preserving history and striving to keep beautiful, useful and interesting things from ending up in the landfill. But the possibility exists that on occasion I may go too far. 45 years ago I spent a fall in New England. Today I found the paper bag of once brilliantly colored autumn leaves I had collected and saved.
Yep.
Happy Fall, y’all!
DM me if you’re a relocated New Englander and need a handful of cherished leaf mulch for your garden…

Alise just swooped in from Everett and spotted this ‘60’s psychedelic “sack” dress that looks very similar to one she got from her Mom. She loves her mom’s dress but lives in fear of something happening to it. (She had a close shave at a restaurant once when she was wearing mom’s dress and dining on black, squid in pasta). So now she has a back up dress, just in case!

It’s a wrap!!! The 27th Port Townsend Film Festival was a blast, — fantastic films, lectures, and dazzling September weather, to boot. We met swarms of happy film buffs in shop and out on the street. Thanks PTFF for bringing the magic again ❤️⭐️✨
Reminder: Magpie has thousands of black and white film stills, (some currently adorning our window). These are from 20 years of Rose Theatre press kits, a buck each and suitable for framing. Come browse our three crates of fabulous photos! ❤️

Darrell, from Spokane, was here visiting his sister, Cherie, and we had a fun time chatting in the shop. Then he decided to go ahead and try on the cream, patent leather loafers — and there was that magic, Cinderella moment I’m always waiting for when special shoes come through the shop. He sighed. “They fit perfectly”. Infinite costume and ensemble possibilities ahead for Darrell and his new shoes! ❤️

Ellie, is originally from Port Orchard but is now testing out life at the other corner in Saint Augustine Florida. Now she has a Rolling Stones ball cap to keep that hot southern sun at bay…

Dennis, from Friday Harbor, was just in the shop and discovered the antique bronze crucifix I found buried under a pile of sawdust in an architectural salvage yard in New Orleans. The style is french art nouveau. The french founded “La Nouvelle Orleans” in 1718 and the growing city became the capital of the French Louisiana Colony in 1722.
I wish we knew the whole story of this piece!
