About 3 years ago Gasoline and Us was born from the pandemic. With Rebecca caught in a round of Covid-restructuring layoffs and Richard as a bartender with no one to tend to at the bar, we found ourselves with a little more time and an idea: to make sweet gender neutral moto tees inclusive for everyone.
When Rebecca started riding motorcycles, she was looking for dope brands that fit her and her style. There were tons of crop tops, tight fits, and men’s styles, but nothing that worked for her. The quest for moto goods that were as sweet as Richard’s—plus the recognition that women of all sizes, all colors, and the q***r community have not been represented well in the motorcycle community—sparked the idea for Gasoline and Us. And we wanted to make whatever dent we could to help change that. We’ve met so many great and inspiring folks over the past three years—badass people pushing boundaries and making their own dent in public perception about who’s out there on two wheels. We stand firmly that we’ve helped change perceptions.
We knew slinging shirts would be a tough game, but with as much time as it takes, it just didn’t pay the bills. With full-time jobs on our plates we have always struggled finding the necessary time for our side hustle. Recently the boomerang economy has led to another layoff, and between the hustle of finding a new job and the anxiety of starting a new gig, G&Us has fallen to the wayside. Honestly, this last layoff has broken our spirits a little. So we have some news today: Gasoline and Us is closing our doors on April 1st. No April Fools. We’ve had the privilege of getting to know and work with some of our fans and partners over the years. Please know that in every interaction we’ve had with you, every message you sent, every like you gave, every tee you purchased: we felt the love. We hope you felt it, too. It was so fulfilling to see our dream resonate with you. To everyone who’s supported us over the years: we know you, we see you, and we truly appreciate you. You made it worth every minute.
It was a good ride! See you out on the road. 🦅🦅🦅
