There is such a profound meaning in loving and respecting someone so deeply that the loss of them can affect you this much, even when you never had the privilege of meeting them.
I am so sad—devastated, actually. Today was a normal day until it wasn’t. I drove out of the driveway with the sun beaming down, and then suddenly it felt like it had been completely sucked out of the sky and the world—yet it was still shining when I looked out the window.
Dolly is everything I could ever hope to be. Not because of the rhinestones, the big beautiful hair, the makeup, or her iconic life—although I loved every bit of it. It was who she was underneath all the bells and whistles. Her heart. The way she treated people. The way she advocated for EVERYBODY, with no one left behind.
The world loved Dolly, but there was something in my heart that made her a little extra special to me. Without ever knowing her personally, I felt like she cheered on every single one of my dreams. She inspired me to believe in myself and to build pieces of my life around the joy, kindness, humor, and beauty she put into the world.
I aspire to be the kind of human she was and to bring joy to people the way she did. The sparkles were just a bonus. ✨
Thank you to everyone who checked on me today. The fact that you heard this news and immediately thought of me means more than you know. Not because I knew her personally, but because when you think of her, you think of me—and I hope I can carry even a little piece of what she gave this world for the time I have left here.
My idol, my inspiration, my fashion and lifestyle rule book—Dolly, I feel so fortunate to have lived in a world with you. 💖
Tomorrow, I’ll be honoring her legacy by donating a percentage of sales from my Whatnot show to the Imagination Library.
Heaven just got a lot more sparkly. I will always love you, Dolly ✨🦋🤍🪩🎀
