As soon as I finish all existing repairs I will begin to sort and sift. There is so much good stuff here.

Please note: I’ll post when I’m ready to start selling, as pieces become available. Messaging me right now does not guarantee priority picking through the shop. You’ll have to stay focused on the social media as the timeline unfolds, but I’m looking mainly at early May to empty the shop space.

After nearly 17 years as JD, it’s time for me to lay my hammer down and retire the shop.
Since my son Arthur was wrenched from the physical life in 2023, the shop has remained for me the haven that he and I made together. The shop always took care of us.

Now my relationship to Arthur is more ethereal and I don’t need the physicality of the shop as much to feel connected to him.

I’m upended by grief every day all the time, and it is time for me to explore this further and weave my story of surviving the worst thing. Maybe you will want to read it.

And let’s face it, my physical health has suffered over 21 years of shoe repair. I need to take care of repairing my own self.

Please spread the word! It’s a liquidation event. All my tools and machines are in great shape. Buy it outright! There’s plenty of work to do.

When we were young, Arthur and I ran the shop together and built it into the sweet space you know and love. Still kicking after 17 years! You can now find JD at 2406 Broadway in Baker City OR busy repairing.

A vintage beaver wallet came through for some fresh lacing.
In 21 years of shoe repair, this is a first. The country life brings a whole new range of projects.

These Wesco boots came in the mail and were such a fun repair.
I replaced the full soles with Vibram 100 lug soles and heels, rebuilding the leather stack heel by hand. It’s just the way we do it out here, quality work all the way. Then back in the mail they go.

This was a fun project, putting these amber Vibram Roccia soles on some hardy working boots.

This was a fun project, setting in zippers and dyeing these Dr Marten boots black.
The result is spectacular and completely custom to the wearer.
If you find a great boot, think about ways you’d make it better and talk to me.
