✨Meet the Ambassadors!✨
Yamileth (she/her) is a member of the Xi chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. at St. John’s University. She is a sophomore criminal justice major.
She says, “Ever since crossing SP24 into Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., I have fallen in love with everything my sorority represents. Para is more than just Greek apparel. It is a symbol of unity, sisterhood, and community. It embodies the values that define not only my sorority but also a larger network of individuals striving to make a difference. As a proud Pi Chi who is always looking for meaningful para, Pa’lante immediately stood out to me. While there are many places to purchase Greek apparel, Pa’lante truly resonated with me. Their pieces are crafted with love, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of our sorority’s meaning, history, and culture. Supporting a business that aligns with my values is important to me, and knowing that Pa’lante was founded by one of my very own Hermanas makes it even more special.
Crossing as Freshman can be overwhelming. You’re balancing personal growth, chapter responsibilities, and the high expectations set by those who came before you. The pressure to succeed and uphold your chapter’s legacy can feel like a lot, but in those tough moments, always remember why you joined. That purpose will keep you grounded and remind you of the privilege of being part of something greater than yourself. If you want change, be the one to initiate it. Whether it’s strengthening relationships, creating new opportunities, or pushing your chapter forward, take the first step. It’s easy to feel disconnected when responsibilities pile up, but don’t let business overshadow the bonds you’ve built. When you’re constantly focused on meetings, events, and deadlines, it’s easy to lose sight of the sisterhood/brotherhood that made you fall in love with your organization in the first place. The connections you built are just as important as the work you do for your chapter.”
