Early morning Dola always has grand plans for her life that mid-afternoon, exhausted Dola regrets making. This morning my grand plan is to sell all of my belongings and hand-make everything I ever wanted to own. I’m writing it down before I forget and join the real world for work. Someday I’ll actually get to the creating, but this morning I’m just getting all of my ideas on paper so I can remember them.

Facebook reminded me of this amazing apron I made for my sewing teacher. It was my thank you gift for her imparting her lifetime of knowledge and skill on me. I will never be half the seamstress that Bobette is, but I’m pretty good. Just know that if you commission anything or use me for alterations, I was trained by the best of the best. She is truly a master of her craft.

So I have officially started my YouTube channel and linked it in my bio. It’s all about my creations, whether that be food, garments, or random crafts. I have a special interest in frugality this year and reducing waste. There will be a lot of that. Check it out if you want some random recipes or sewing tutorials. I’ll be attempting to add content on a semi-regular basis.

Today, I’m focusing on my kitchen and cleaning out cabinets. Posted some items on Marketplace. I’m also posting clothes on Vinted and Mercari. Turning my early morning insomnia into something productive. Here are some of the gorgeous plus-size blouses I have. A constant revolving door of garments. There will be a ton more. This summer I am going to try and embrace a capsule wardrobe. I’m pretty excited for it.

It is not too early to start thinking about holidays and especially Christmas. I’m officially taking orders now for custom Christmas stockings and reusable gift wraps! Send me a message and I will give you a quote and print options. Names can be hand embroidered or ironed on with adorable decals. If you have any specific kind of motif in mind, I can make it happen!

Organizing and sorting and posting tons of things for sale. Back on my get rid of half of what I own kick. I even threw away a cardigan that is stained beyond repair. I’m pleased. I can’t wait until I crack into my enormous fabric stash. That’s going to be fun and everything I’m never going to use is getting posted!

A large portion of my time this year so far has been focused on cooking, mostly from scratch, and on a very strict budget. I decided in the beginning of January to do one large grocery shop at the beginning of each month, to stock up on ingredients, and then each week, create a meal plan, using only ingredients I have on hand, making really lovely meals for my family, that are frugal and also much healthier than processed food. This week my main ingredient is a 14 pound turkey, that was gifted to me. We have had 1 full meal, I made about a gallon of turkey stock from the bones, and I have about 6 pounds of meat left over. I don’t have to buy chicken broth or stock when I do my grocery haul for February, and I have at least 5 more meals of meat that is going in my freezer. I call this creation a smashing success.

This morning I had to spend my time packing up orders, but I officially started a project. It’s not a fiber craft, it’s a coloring project believe it or not. I’m really excited to work on it again tonight. I even stayed up late working on it!
