Reid Tolar grew up as the hired help on his grandfather's commercial cattle operation and swore he wanted nothing to do with cows. Ashley grew up in the horse world with an eye for conformation and a very specific idea of what beautiful looked like. Together they built Tolar Longhorns in Prattville, Alabama and neither of them has looked back since.

In this week's episode Reid and Ashley sit down with us to talk about how a fourth generation cattle family ended up pivoting to registered Texas Longhorns, how they stumbled into a direct-to-consumer Longhorn beef program that now has a waiting list, and why Reid, an attorney with degrees in agricultural economics and law, calls his cows little savings accounts walking around the pasture.
