Growing zinnias is like collecting little bursts of happiness, one bloom at a time.

I've had a bag of shells hanging around for awhile and I just wasn't feeling dumping them in a bowl....but a cloche seemed like a perfect solution! While there's some fun areas in this room, there's also some j***y ones. How this room got designated as the paint dumping zone is beyond me, unbuilt built-ins coming up on their 2nd birthday, and shiplap that I inherited are all things that need my attention....eventually. Until then I'll just admire the areas I do like.

Gardening is a passion and while I love the fact I have a new blank slate to work within and many ideas too, I still find myself missing some of my mature plants at our old home, especially my endless summer hydrangeas. My new ones are just babies and it will take awhile to get my old growth size back. Regardless, the excitement of new plant varieties and layouts help me stay focused on this new adventure. English cottage garden dreams....I'm coming for you.

As with anything good, gardening takes time and patience, but the reward is certainly worth it.

May, where have you gone?! One minute we were planting flowers and the next thing I know I’m installing dining room millwork and hauling home the English hutch of my dreams....like a Victorian aunt with a shopping addiction. She’s ready for a lifetime commitment collecting china.

The last few weeks have been a little bit of a wild ride with unexpected surgery, but the family has made recovery bearable, thankfully. Relaxing afternoons spent supervising all the flower planting has been a bright spot on the long days.

Can I just say my Peggy Martin's aren't disappointing. I planted them in the fall, and they are going to be dreamy once I get the trellis up.

I've had a small learning curve figuring out what plants tolerate heat and sun, but I'm getting there. We're definitely not in Virginia anymore.
