I am BEYOND thrilled to have my first byline and comic at Washington Post Opinions up today! It’s a special comic for Mother’s Day about why we should all be sure to take photos of the mothers in our lives. Every family is different, but this seems to be a pretty widely shared experience.

Read the whole thing:

Mothers are often taking family photos, but rarely in them.

How I Ditched My Poverty Tells

New work for Washington Post Opinions and Outlook for a piece by Tracy Moore about learning to walk and talk like wealthier people around you as a way to get ahead. But she also recognizes that that requires giving up or covering up pieces of yourself. Thanks to Chris for the assignment and for picking my favorite sketch!

Doing a bit of an experiment by posting first thing on a Sunday morning. The algorithm has it out for us all anyway, right?

After seeing Jordan Peele’s Nope a few weeks ago, the idea for this painting popped into my head and I couldn’t get it out. So here it is! Loved the movie and all the interesting conversations I’ve had around it.

My Lying Eyes

I am SO excited to share this GIF I made for episode 770 of This American Life. The new episode is about “people staring squarely at the truth, and still finding it hard to believe what they’re seeing.”

This was incredibly fun. I used a slightly different style and am really happy with the results. Thanks to Julie for the great assignment and art direction!

What If the Future of Work is Exactly the Same?

New work for Vox about the workers who are being left behind amongst all the changes in the world of work. Plenty of people have not seen their wages go up or their working conditions improve in recent years without a lot of hope that they will.

Thanks to Nathan and Lavanya!

For many, the gains in worker pay and power during the pandemic are fading fast — if they even saw them at all.

I am pleased to announce that these two pieces were chosen to appear in American Illustration's online gallery. Thank you to the judges and my wonderful ADs. This is my first appearance in AI and hopefully not the last.
