The workshop is a place for aspiring designers; to create fashion, explore style and discover fundamentals of garment design. We invent patterns, learn sewing skills and investigate the process of design from imagination to actualized garments. Candace French teaches fashion, pattern making and construction for RISD/CE's Young Artist Program, the Providence public and private schools as well as for the Candace French Design workshop.
She is a clothing designer who created the first display of spandex fashion featured in Fiorucci, NYC. She designed for the punk rock shops; Revenge, Trash and Vaudeville in NYC and for bands Blondie, The Cars, and New York Dolls.
Her recent work has been high performance rowing gear for Resolute Racing, The Chezpron for Chez-Pascal and the cape for Cleverhood.
Her past collections include Freewheeelers; the first line of kid's bike wear, custom wedding gowns, leather racing suits, bespoke clothing and soft furnishings for Anna French Fabrics.
