Here’s the thing…I was going to make a video where I said all of this stuff, but I kept getting weepy so here’s the short novel version!
Before you read, the spoiler alert is that we are celebrating 10 YEARS in business this week and will be having a 25% off SALE at Nostalgia and 50% off SALE at Mister on Main to celebrate! And now, your feature presentation….
Ten years ago, I stood in an empty storefront on Main Street in Purcellville and wondered if I was making the biggest mistake of my life. I had a dream. Not a business plan that guaranteed success. Not a roadmap with all the answers. Just a dream that somehow, a little vintage shop could become something special. I remember those early days vividly. The late nights. The uncertainty. The moments of excitement mixed with moments of fear. Every customer who walked through the door felt like a small miracle. Every sale felt like validation that maybe this crazy idea could work.
What I didn't realize then was that Nostalgia Boutique would become so much more than a store. Over the past ten years, these walls have held thousands of stories. We've helped brides find dresses for one of the most important days of their lives. We've watched grandparents share memories with their grandchildren over pieces that reminded them of another era. We've welcomed collectors, fashion lovers, treasure hunters, and curious visitors from all over the country. We've laughed together, cried together, celebrated together, and built friendships that extend far beyond a simple retail transaction.
Some of you have been with us since the very beginning. You've watched us grow, evolve, take chances, and weather challenges that none of us could have predicted. Through economic ups and downs, changing trends, and even a global pandemic, you continued to show up. You shopped local. You shared our posts. You told your friends about us. You brought us your family heirlooms and trusted us with your stories. And little by little, year after year, you helped transform a dream into something real.
People often congratulate me on reaching ten years in business, but the truth is that this milestone doesn't belong to me alone.
It belongs to every customer who chose to walk through our doors instead of clicking "add to cart." It belongs to every person who stopped by one of our events, shared a kind review, recommended us to a friend, or simply offered words of encouragement when they were needed most.
It belongs to this incredible community.
Purcellville has given me so much more than a place to do business. It has given me friendships, opportunities, memories, and a sense of belonging. In a world that often feels increasingly disconnected, you've helped create a place where people can slow down, share stories, and appreciate the beauty of things that have stood the test of time.
Thank you for every visit, every purchase, every recommendation, every kind word, and every moment of support. Thank you for helping write the story of Nostalgia Boutique.
Thank you to my teachers, friends, and family who have each been a part of my journey in their separate but equally important ways.
Here's to the memories we've made, the history we've preserved, and the stories still waiting to be told.
Thank you for an incredible ten years.
