Hey girls heyyy!!!
I'm coming to yall with a heavy heart and possibly the longest and most vulnerable post I'll ever make.
I have faced a lot of heartbreak in my life. But I think making this post may very well be at the top of the list of the most painful things I’ve ever had to do.
I am embarrassed. I am heartbroken. And if I’m being completely transparent, I am ashamed.
I really did give this everything I had. Every ounce of energy, every dollar I could scrape together, every idea, every prayer, every last bit of hope. I tried so incredibly hard to make this work.
But sometimes, no matter how hard you fight for something, there are circumstances beyond your control that determination, hard work, and good intentions simply cannot overcome.
And unfortunately, I’ve reached that point.
It absolutely breaks my heart to announce that K.OSS & CO. will be permanently closing its doors after tomorrow, October 12.
I wish more than anything that I were writing a different post.
I know some of you are aware that I’ve been navigating some difficult circumstances behind the scenes. There is so much I wish I could explain, and maybe one day, I’ll have the opportunity to tell the whole story. But for now, there are matters that I simply cannot discuss publicly.
What I can say is that I fought for this little store until I had absolutely nothing left to fight with.
And I am so, so sorry that I couldn’t find a way to keep our doors open.
But before I go any further, I need to thank y’all.
Thank you for supporting me in the pursuit of my dream of building a little corner of the world where we could all let our hair down, relax, shop, catch up, and just exist exactly as we are.
Thank you to my incredible customers who became regulars, who then became friends, and eventually became such an important part of my everyday life.
I wish I could adequately express how much I’m going to miss seeing your smiles, hearing about your families, or getting the latest tea about that coworker who somehow STILL has a job despite not being able to tell you three things about her actual job description. 😭
I’m going to miss hearing about your babies making the baseball team, making cheer, getting accepted into college, performing in the USM band, or whatever exciting thing happened in your lives that week. To my younger ladies, you are all beautiful and strong. I'm so proud of each of you. Your show choir performances, your cheer routines, your softball pitching, volleyball wins, your work ethic at 15, 16, 17 years old. I'm SO proud of y'all. Seriously, so proud.
I loved learning about y’all. Your children, your marriages, your jobs, your struggles, your accomplishments, your hopes, and your heartbreaks.
Thank you for allowing me to be even the smallest part of your lives.
To the ladies who patiently waited for me to get something in stock that you could’ve EASILY ordered somewhere else, simply because you wanted to support me and see my little business succeed…
To the people who shared my Facebook posts, recommended my store, brought their friends, or stopped in just to check on me…
To those who encouraged me on the days when I was barely holding myself together…
You will NEVER understand how much that meant to me.
Y'all know I forget absolutely everything. Hell, most days I forget what I'm saying mid sentence -as many of you well know. 🙃
But I damn sure won’t forget the people who showed me genuine love, kindness, and encouragement when I needed it most.
What most of you probably don’t realize is just how many silent battles I was fighting in my personal life while trying to run everything behind that counter.
A lot of days when I didn’t know how I was going to make it through the next 24 hours. And then one of y’all would walk through that door, plop down on the couch, tell me something completely out of pocket, and suddenly the weight of the world didn’t feel quite so heavy.
When I opened K.OSS, I wanted to build something different.
Not some fancy boutique where you felt like you had to look a certain way, dress a certain way, or have a certain amount of money to belong.
I wanted a safe haven.
Especially for the women who spend their lives making sure everyone else feels loved, appreciated, and taken care of, while quietly moving through their own lives feeling kind of invisible from time to time.
I wanted every single person who walked through my door to feel beautiful, important, respected, seen, and heard.
I wanted y’all to know that you mattered. You still do. You always will.
And if there’s one thing I desperately hope I accomplished, please let it be that.
If I could go back and do it all over again, even knowing exactly how this story would end, I would still choose to open those doors.
I would just soak in every little visit a little bit longer.
I’d listen to one more story. Laugh a little harder. Hug a little tighter. (Okay. Probably not hug... I'm in my feelings right now, but I'm still not a hugger. 🫣🥴) But I'd sit down on that couch with y’all instead of trying to accomplish 47 things at once.
Because there’s something I don’t think I’ve ever really told y’all.
While I was so busy trying to create a place where other people could feel loved, accepted, and a little less alone, y’all were giving me the strength to keep going.
Loving y’all was, without a doubt, healing me.
And I don’t think I’ll ever find the words to properly thank you for that.
I don’t know whether I’ll ever attempt this particular pursuit of happiness again. Right now, the thought of walking away from something I poured so much of myself into is sickening. I mean, it's almost unbearable.
But I do know that I don’t regret loving this little store, or the people who made it what it was.
And while I may be losing the business I worked so hard to build, I refuse to believe that something which brought so much love into my life was a failure.
The business may be closing, but everything it meant to me, and hopefully to some of you, doesn’t disappear just because the doors are locked.
Most of y’all have my personal number or are friends with me on social media, and I pray so hard that you stay in touch.
Even if you just need one of our quick little vent sessions, I’m still here. Yall know the drill. Let me grab my Diet Coke real quick, and then I’m SAT, girl.
Now... for the harsh, bitter, unfortunate business part of this post:
🖤 TOMORROW, OCTOBER 12, WILL BE OUR FINAL DAY OF BUSINESS.
🖤 EVERYTHING REMAINING IN STOCK WILL BE 40–80% OFF.
🖤 Anyone with an active tanning package will be reimbursed for the unused portion of their package. I want to be sure I don't miss anyone, but I promise, I'll get with each of you by Tuesday.
I love each and every one of you. So, so much.
My heart is absolutely shattered. I am devastated that this is how our story ends, and I am deeply sorry that I couldn’t give this little community the future I had envisioned for it.
But please don’t ever mistake the closing of these doors for a lack of love, effort, or willingness to fight for what I believed in.
I gave K.OSS & CO. everything I had.
And y’all gave me something I didn’t even know I needed.
A reason to keep showing up, even on the days when life made it almost impossible.
Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for letting me love y’all right back.
And wherever life takes us from here, please know that I will always be rooting for each and every one of you.
With every ounce of gratitude and love in my heart,
-Kalie 🖤

The doors may be closing, but the love was real. Every single bit of it. 🖤
