Did you know that today is Pig in a Blanket Day?

Pigs In A Blanket are a simple concept and have been found throughout the world in many variations since time out of mind. You simply take a sausage and wrap it! Usually, you’ll find them wrapped in some form of pastry, with puff pastry being one of the most universally popular.

So many versions are out there, but my favorite is just the regular hotdog in cheesy bread just like they used to serve when I was in school!

What's your favorite?

Did you know that today is German Beer Day?

Pour yourself a tall frothy glass of Weißbier, or if you prefer something stronger a sturdy Weizebock. Prefer a dark beer with a rye flavor and a texture you could eat with a spoon? Try a Roggenbeir. The options are nearly endless, with Germany producing a significant portion of Europe’s beers. For our palates? We like to go with a Berlin Weisse, there’s just something about the pale color and sour finish that just makes us want to raise another glass.

What’s your choice going to be for German Beer Day?

Did you know that today is Unicorn Day? Lularoe Mascot Day...WooHoo!!

Unicorns were mentioned as far back as antiquity—ancient Greek writers believed they lived in the faraway and exotic country of India, which was then largely unknown to Europeans. However, the unicorn was then thought to be a powerful, fierce animal that was not to be meddled with.

In the Middle Ages, the unicorn’s image was based greatly on Bible passages that were thought to speak of these animals, and unicorns slowly came to be seen as a symbol of strength, the purest kind of love, and the pets of virgin women. In fact, there is even a sculpture of the Virgin Mary holding a unicorn on her lap and patting it in Warsaw’s National Museum. Thus, unicorns have been appearing in works of literature for thousands of years.

The most prominent more modern examples include Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis. The whole immensely popular My Little Pony franchise is also based on unicorns.

Tell me....What is YOUR LULAROE UNICORN? Perhaps I can try to find it for you! I certainly will try!

Did you know that today is International Firewalk Day? Really, why would you???

When you talk about Firewalking you’re quite literally talking about people who have walked through the fire, with bare feet placed upon hot coals ever step of the way. International Firewalk Day celebrates this ancient practice and the new generation of people who have embraced it as a way to face their fears and embrace the transformation that fire can bring.

The secret of firewalking lay in confidence and science, not magic, however. When performed properly the layer of ash and certain properties of thermodynamics help to protect the feet from being burned. The steady, confident walk of the firewalker isn’t just bravado, it’s also a sure way to protect your feet by stepping flat-footed on the ash and pushing off evenly and slowly to ensure you don’t break the barrier between your feet and the searing hot coals beneath. Lose your cool and start rushing and you’ll almost certainly end up burning yourself; Confidence is definitely key!

So, would YOU try Firewalking? For me, that's a Hard NO...I guess I am just not that confident, and I am okay with that 😛

Did you know that today is Star Trek First Contact Day? Yeah....no. I sorta consider myself a Trekkie in that I grew up watching the show and love it! It certainly was a ground breaker. But I have no idea what Star Trek: First Contact is, if I have ever seen it, who is in it or what it is about.

Anyway, here's the lowdown on the celebration:
There is one day in the history of mankind in the Star Trek universe that stands out above all others, even though it’s only celebrated as a relatively minor holiday. On that day in 2063, Zefram Cochrane first took a flight at speeds in excess of Warp 1 in the Phoenix, alerting the Vulcan race to their entrance into the interstellar community and initiating first contact. Some 300 years later it was commemorated as First Contact Day, and the celebration went on from there. Star Trek: First Contact Day commemorates that day in real life, and fans everywhere get together to celebrate the most pivotal moment in Star Trek human history!

Tell me: are you a Trekkie? and if so, who's YOUR favorite character? (I was absolutely in LOVE with DeForest Kelley who played Bones)
