Had a very busy week with many weird, sad, or just plain odd things going on. One of the odd but actually fun things was my husband discovering a newly hatched nest of baby snappers! (They were emerging from under a hydrangea bush near our church.)

Sorry, not able to take any more brides for this fall, unless you have already pre-arranged to book with me. I'm overflowing beyond belief y'all. Very appreciative and grateful for the business but now I have to handle it all...alone. Lol. And those whose event dates are soonest are the ones I have to tackle first, which many people don't understand but I'm literally always on a deadline.

Good morning all! Looking for recommendations of good things to listen to on days when I'm just plugging away at sewing (besides just music). It's hard for me to actually "watch" anything, so I'm mostly looking for podcasts, audiobooks, documentaries, etc I'm very nerdy and like to learn new things! Currently I do worship music, historical and crime documentaries, other podcasts, and the audio Bible 10 chapters a day. Thanks!

I'm able to share an extremely fun project that has been in the works for a bit. I took a sweet grandmother's wedding gown from 1974 and did a little redesign work to modernize it for her granddaughter to wear for her own wedding ceremony. I was able to remove the yellowing that comes with age and storage, removed the sleeves, swapped out the lining for something lighter weight, moved the neckline, added boning, and removed the zipper, replacing it with an open, corseted lace-up back. As a surprise to the bride, I also took the original veil, lightened it, and removed some of the extra bulk and headpiece portion to make it more modern. It was a treat to work on! Doesn't she look beautiful? (As a bonus, I did her prom dress in years past, so fun to follow up with her wedding gown!)

Started out our 27th anniversary by doing "old people things" and going out to breakfast at the crack of dawn instead of a glamorous dinner and night out. Yes, we might be middle aged😂...very thankful for this man and his love for me.

Receiving pics from brides and their big day makes my day!! This is from one of my beautiful May brides, Emmie: "Hi Rachel, I wanted to share some wedding photos with you! Thank you for fitting my mom and I"s dresses. They looked beautiful for the wedding day.! The bustle was easy and I'm so glad the sleeves were attached; they looked great in every photo!"

Scenes from the studio recently: 2 of my 3 full racks of dresses (plus additional overflow), a summer wedding gown in progress, some pretty Mom's dresses, and a crazy shot of my stockinged feet. The tune of this June has been MANY Dr appointments, all almost an hour away. So many, like literally almost every weekday lately. I am in the midst of treatments for both legs, which have been plagued by terrible veins for years, but I decided to do something healthy for myself and finally get them fixed!! A temporary inconvenience, temporary pains, but I am already seeing a huge difference! Modern medicine is amazing.

I've been completely MIA for the last 8 days, but for a great reason! We had an opportunity to travel with our 5 young adult children to Savannah and St Augustine and had a fun and wonderful time. Yes, going away takes a lot of prep work and coming home is always a shock, but the time away with loved ones is priceless! Always opt for taking the trip!!🐬🌴🌞
