Fabrics for the project!!

Alright, so I know I'm a little bit behind schedule getting started on my big first project for the year, but guess what? The creative engine is officially humming! I've already managed to gather a few of the initial fabrics I'll need for the paper foundation work, and things are really starting to take shape.

I'm currently working with some adorable, yet incredibly precise, 1.5 inch by 2.5 inch flying geese. Given their small size, absolute accuracy is super crucial for everything to line up perfectly. Thankfully, paper piecing is my go-to method, ensuring I achieve that impeccable precision every single time. I have a feeling this meticulous piecing stage will be the most time-consuming part of the entire project, but it's totally worth it for the crisp, finished result I'm aiming for!

It's New Year, and I'm ready to kick off a new project! I've tackled this kind of project before for a client, but this time it's all about me. The exciting twist is that I'm planning to make it even bigger and bolder with colors. To bring this vision to life, I'll be using a variety of techniques. I'll start with some paper foundation piecing, followed by traditional quilt piecing, and then wrap it up with a quilt-as-you-go method. Each step will add its own flair to the final piece, and I can't wait to see how it all comes together. I'm genuinely thrilled about diving into this first project of the year, especially since it's a personal endeavor. There's something special about creating for yourself, and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to pop in and share some exciting news about a client project I recently wrapped up! I almost forgot to share the final photos, but trust me, the pics doesn’t do the quilt justice . I'm absolutely over the moon with how everything came together, and I truly believe the finished piece looks fantastic.

One of the things I'm particularly proud of is the quilting pattern I ended up going with. It honestly feels like I hit the nail right on the head! It's funny, the client initially sent me an image of something they liked and they really prefer it in blues. It was a fun little challenge to take that idea and transform it into something new and beautiful, and I think we really nailed the vision.

Anyway, I'm super happy with the outcome. Now that this one's officially off my plate, it's full steam ahead to the next creative adventure!

Cheers!

After a brief pause, I am re-engaging with this project.

My next task is to integrate the 288 units with 144 units I made previously.

Slow and steady as she goes my captain.

I'm making great progress! I've condensed 1728 pieces into 864 units, and now I'm down to 144 units.

Next, I'll add two half-squares to transform these units into usable squares.

Who needs big achievements when you can celebrate small ones? Went from 1,728 pieces to 864 units.

Significant progress has been made.

I've added 1,908 pieces to this quilt.
The cutting board now contains almost the entire quilt (3,636 pieces), minus the borders.

The fingers are being given a brief break, and sewing will start tomorrow.

I have been tasked with creating a quilt for a friend. While the design is not intricate, it will require time and organizational effort.

The quilt incorporates a three-color scheme, consisting of Navy, Light Blue, and White.

The preliminary stage involves cutting 12 strips of fabric from each color, followed by cutting 12 squares from those strips and bisecting each square diagonally twice.

As a result, I now have 1728 pieces to assemble.

Starting a new project and I'm excited. And I still have other projects I really need to get quilted and I will (someday, 🤭).

But here's a sneak peek of the fabrics that I've chosen.

I'm loving the Kente fabric.
