I spent my summers in Westchester, NY with her -- me crocheting in the sweltering heat and my grandmother's repeated requests to drop the crochet needle and spend some time in her vegetable garden outside. I refused, instead focusing those few short weeks each year in pursuit of making things with my own two (little) hands. Years later, I wanted to learn how to knit. This time it was my mother (my
grandmother's eldest daughter) who taught me. She conjured up her motor memory from her early years in Argentina where she herself knit items of clothing so that she could pass on this tradition to me. What good is a skill if you don't use it to help others? The excess yarn from making these creations is used to make donated blankets for the animals at the New Rochelle Humane Society http://www.newrochellehumanesociety.com/ (where our cat Sebastian is from). Additionally, 10% of the selling price of any pet item is donated to the Larchmont Pet Rescue http://www.ny-petrescue.org/ (where pup Stella is from). I also knit cotton hats for the preemies at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital in New York City. What I'm drawn to: mixing textures...glitter...sequins...shimmer...buttons. You'll see all of these aspects in my creations. All of my items are made by hand, by me in a smoke-free home. What you see is what you get -- all items are ready to ship and the items photographed in my listings are those you will receive on your doorstep. When I'm not knitting or crocheting, I enjoy practicing yoga, cooking (if only I could sell my tomato sauce!) and spending quality time with family and friends. I hope you enjoy wearing my creations as much as I enjoy making them.
