I can still feel the fabric of this dress between my finger tips as it sat on a chair in my mother’s sewing room waiting to be transformed.
I can still feel how my heart sung when she told me, “that’s for your fairy godmother costume.”
How is it that a child’s costume can become a link to your life’s work? How is it that a couple of yards of sparkly dotted tulle could pave the way for me to step into a roll that would shape my life, my work, my legacy.
“Dress-up” was an unending source of imagination in my childhood, as it still is today. Bringing humans into my studio and making them feel their best happens with the help of my extensive and imaginative wardrobe. It is an honor to help them craft a persona that feels acutely “them”. It’s part of my magic.
I love looking at these photos of me dressed in that costume, and I love thinking about the evolution of my life. There have been many times in my life where I have not been the GM, but Cinderella herself…hoping to finally be chosen. Loved. Treasured.
My greatest life’s work has been the healing I have done to fully step into my roll. A woman who holds her boundaries, loves others unconditionally but loves herself more, and sets a standard for those around her with compassion, kindness, responsibility and most importantly, empathy.
It is an honor to be who I am, to do this work, to hold space for others, to show up at the 11th hour in your darkest time and share a bit of myself, in the hopes that you might see how brightly and beautifully you could shine.
I love you so much honey, and I’m here when you are ready.
XOXO
Tina
