🍰 New to Quilting? Start With a Layer Cake
If you've been wanting to start quilting but the idea of cutting yardage into a hundred perfect little squares makes you want to close the laptop, we have good news: layer cakes do that work for you. A layer cake is a bundle of precut 10" x 10" fabric squares, usually 40-42 pieces, all coordinated in one collection. No rotary cutter marathon required — just open the bundle and start sewing.
They're one of the best entry points into quilting because the fabric is already coordinated for you. Someone else did the hard work of picking colors and prints that play well together, so your first quilt looks intentional instead of like a science experiment. Layer cakes also work beautifully for simple beginner patterns — think disappearing nine-patch, simple square quilts, or even just using the squares as-is for a fast charity quilt.
We keep our layer cake wall stocked with a rotating mix of collections, from classic florals to modern prints, so there's something for whatever style you're drawn to.
