I've always been able to find inspiration in my every day life, from things as simple as a coffee cup or the spokes of a wheel, to more intricate details in the bark of a tree or petals of a flower. At a young age, I started to connect these inspirations to clothing, seeing all of these different shapes and textures translate into garments. I began to develop a deep love for apparel, not just fril
ly dresses and sparkly shoes (although who doesn't love those things?!), but the structure of garments and how they are made. I grew up watching my mom and grandma sew, making matching outfits for me and my dolls and even clothing for themselves. I was fascinated and needed to know more. After learning how to sew myself, I was hooked. It was a creative outlet for me; something that let me bring all of the ideas in my head to life. I was obsessed with the fact that I could just dream something up and make it a reality with my two hands and a sewing machine. I decided that I had to pursue this passion, and attended school for fashion design. I received my Bachelor of Science in Apparel Design and Technology from Purdue University and studied abroad at the London College of Fashion. I always knew I wanted to someday start my own line, and after learning the business through several internships and working experiences, I knew I was ready. LP by Lauren Petersen is a culmination of my studies, travels, inspirations, and creative perspective. It is bold colors, beautiful prints, and unique shapes that translate into easy to wear pieces. It is my dream, and a journey that will never end. I hope you will come with me!
