Today was one of the hardest days of my life. I had to say a final goodbye to my dear friend Patrick Shields at his celebration of life service in Alma, NY. If you’ve never heard of Alma, don’t worry, neither had I. But it is a lovely farm community where Patrick and Dan grew up with fond memories. It was a lovely service hosted by his son Chad and daughter-in-law Sheila and his brother Dan and sister-in-law Diane. Dan surprised some people with custom made Irish necklaces in memory of Patrick. I was shocked but so honored to receive one since all but two were for immediate family members. I will wear it every day in honor of Patrick and in gratitude for Dan.
