Over the past few years, Mola’s been working on releasing a line of natural fiber products.
Part of my promise, as a small business, is to be constantly offering Better.
Better for the planet, better for my customers, better performance, better for the business.
Admittedly, I’m a bit torn when it comes to natural fabrics- if you want biodegradable, the fabrics need to be 100% natural fibers. The poly blend fabrics perform awesomely, but are they actually better for the planet?
Is it better to utilize deadstock polyester pieces or order new 100% natural, USA made, organic fabrics?
There are a lot of big picture questions that I don’t have clear or obvious answers to.
Mola uses (almost entirely) USA made fabrics- the footprint is smaller when they don’t travel as far, the people working to make the products are protected by labor laws and a culture around fairer working conditions, and outflows from manufacturing facilities are more strictly regulated. Our system isn’t perfect, but it does have more checks and balances than most manufacturing countries.
All this to say, I’m excited to release a natural fibers line, to have options available for you over at Mola- and continue asking the big questions alongside you, and let you determine what best meets your needs, whether your top priority is performance, the environment, humanity, or affordability.
The aim is always to make the conversion to honestly made apparel as easy as possible.
Let me know what you think!
