The image above depicts the Indonesian volcano Sinaburg which was dormant untill 2010. In January of 2014, Sinaburg picked up speed- leading to this large cloud of ash.
I found inspiration in valcanos not only because of their dormant potential, but because of the battle of magma and earth below the surface.
The pressures could be explosive or remain dormant for decades, depending on the surrounding environment (for example-an earthquake) or breakdown of the structure itself due to time.
This collection explores the pressures of having potential to be successful. Common statements like "you have so much potential" are often said as a complement.
In my personal experience, hearing that statement as a child versus as an adult - I noticed the connotation has shifted. There's an urgency attached to it. I've concluded that reaching whatever you define as your potential takes time. And allowing your environment to rush or even hinder your timeline could directly impact your potential.
It's easy to only focus on "making it". You want the spectacle- the explosion of success. This is a reminder that the build up counts; That battles that aren't seen on the surface counts towards your story. It will be what keeps you grounded one day.
