The science museum in chicago has one of the four u-boats left over from wwII. U-505 has a story that combines the movie “u-571” and “the hunt for the red october”. Tracked down, captured, saved from scuttle off the coast of africa all in secret. Afterward towed by aircraft carrier to a secret location in new england. Brilliant operation to get the enigma machines on board. The germans never found out. This was conducted two days before D-day.

The family had a great experience with this tour. Amazing story and a lot of filmed footage from the capture. Highly recommend if your in chicago.
