The photo on the right is not mine, nor is the baby.😅 But have you seen this trend in newborn photography!?

As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to whip up a few hearts for my friend Amber Kern Photography to give it a shot! She's in the Central IL area, so if you think it's cute and you have a newborn that needs pics, she's your gal!

The pattern was adapted from a free one I found online that I'll 🔗below. I didn't follow it exactly because I'm real bad at following rules. 😆

❤ The gray hearts are made with Hobbii's Baby Cotton and the green with size 3 crochet thread. I think I like the green shape's better, so I'm excited to see which works out better for the babes!

💚 The green shape can be made in a lot of different colors, so if you schedule with Amber and want a specific color made, we can make it happen!

The photo on the right is from H.Cassidy Photography and she's in Arizona if we've got any AZ peeps that need photos. Her work looks great!

This wall hanging is going to Take 2” salon to give Kaci does hair's space a little love! 💞

I'm also working on a black and white version that maaaay or may not be up for grabs... Totally depends on how much I love it. 😂

I thought I hated sewing granny squares together, but it turns out I just needed practice. 🤣

I know it's been quiet here - we've been so busy with AlterMage and I started running again after a years-long break to get some extra miles in for the mileage challenge I'm working on (377mi for the year so far!). Crochet has kind of taken a backseat. 😩

👉 But! I started working on a piece for Kaci does hair's new studio space and that's where the squares come in. It'll be a wall hanging and it's gonna be super cute! I'm even custom cutting and painting the dowel it'll hang from because I like to do too much.

I've realized I don't really enjoy working on things that don't have a purpose. I need a direction to head in. I love color matching. I love designing something specific. I struggle with making just to make because if it's not going anywhere... Why take the time if it's just going to sit in a box in my office?

Like the cardigan I spent 65 hours on that no one is ever going to buy. 😅

Do you have a collection of things you made but serve no real purpose? Does this make me not a real artist? Cue the existential crisis. 🫠

🖤 Black and white is kinda my thing - I love the contrast!
💜 Then just throw a little pop of color in there and it's perfection. Plus they match my bracelet from Lucky Jinx!

It's not crochet, but it's why I won't be doing markets this year - AlterMage will keep me plenty busy! 🤣

AlterMage is a first-person spell-slinging sword-swinging metroidvania coming to Steam & PS5! My husband is the sole developer on the project. He built everything and even produced all of the music! The trailer song has been stuck in my head for months. 😂

I'm so excited to finally share this project with people. Our house is full of creatives and I've learned so much in helping my husband with this. He's released a couple of games in the past, but nothing to this measure and it's been an adventure. 🤣

Found some stiff felt in my craft stash so I used that to back my hearts for my garland! 💕 Hot glued the hearts to the felt, leaving a little edge of the heart free so that I could easily trim around them and leave stitches free to connect them to each other with jump rings or chain.

This kept them firm enough to not lose their shape, is way faster than spraying with stiffener AND I don't have to sew in any ends because they're glued down. Win-win-win! 🥳

I probably could've traced a heart template on the felt and cut those out first, but this was mostly just an experiment to see if this even worked. 🤷‍♀️

Now to decide on tassels! ❤️
