I just buried 80 thread tails because I chose not to turn my project every 30 seconds when filling the corners with straight-line quilting lines 1/4 of an inch apart. I felt it was actually simpler this way. I also could have done straight-edge ruler work and no turning required. We all get to choose our creative processes. There is rarely one "right" method.

Progress update on the sashiko embroidered table runner:

All the sashing and borders were carefully hand cut to keep the flower print in line, then stitched together. The ends were squared off and the quilt sandwich attached with quilters ' safety pins. Each embroidered section was outlined with stitch-in-the-ditch quilting. Then echo quilting was added to the parallel lines of the seam lines. Next I will decide if I will add some other type of quilting in the sashing or border sections. For now, I am burying the dozens of thread tails within the quilt. Photos are in reverse stitch out order.

It's been a navy blue focused couple of weeks. I found a simple A-line skirt pattern to use the gorgeous bottomweight linen in my stash. I had forgotten how absolutely divine linen is to work with! Now I've moved on to turning a trio of sashiko embroidered pieces into a table runner. Process photos for today's work on the sashiko project are below.
