Facts from a small business owner/social seller that no one told me about when I started!
1. You will be on the receiving end of some REALLY cruel, unkind, unnecessary, undeserved, and misplaced emotions of people on the internet. No matter how good or fair you are, you will still experience this.
2. You will make mistakes, and no matter how perfect you try to be, they will happen. Just try to make it right, accept responsibility, and do all you can to rectify the situation.
3. NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO LIKE YOU! NOT EVERYONE WILL LIKE WHAT YOU DO, SAY, SELL, PROMOTE, OR ENDORSE. You’re not achieving your goals on being liked. You will succeed by staying true to yourself and your why.
4. You will cry. You will shed happy tears, but often you will shed tears from confusing, feelings of injustice, feelings of being misunderstood. This too shall pass.
5. Social media is a really difficult and constantly evolving system. Everyday I’m trying to find new ways to beat that algorithm.
6. It is ok to REST, TAKE A STEP BACK, CLOSE THE APP! Now, I’m a self proclaimed workaholic. I work more than most, and I’m not ashamed of that. So when I say “I’m taking time for me”, I take it. I focus on things that fill my cup, serve my personal relationships, improve my health both physically and mentally.
7. Last but not least, it’s is all worth it. Despite the many challenging days…it is always worth it. I never for a second regret quitting my job 10 years ago to focus on my children. To make them my number one priority. Then finding a way to continue that throughout their childhood. I’m so blessed and grateful for this beautiful life.
