Flour ❀ Flower — The Rochester Pennant

Rochester, New York has always had two names. In the early 1800s, more than twenty grain mills lined the Genesee River near High Falls, and for about ten years Rochester was the largest flour producer in the entire world — earning it the nickname *The Flour City*. Then, during the second half of the 19th century, industry shifted and nurseries blossomed all around the city, and in 1859 the nickname was cleverly replaced with *The Flower City*.

Two names. One city. One pennant.

This lilac banner celebrates both sides of Rochester’s story — the mills and the blooms, the grit and the garden. Hang it proud wherever Rochester runs deep.
